So the story begins about five years ago when I started with my guard army and caught a glimt on the Armorcast Shadowsword. Despite it being outdated and lacking the extra details the new kits bring I still wanted to own it because of how ridiculous it looked, almost orky with nearly enough dakka.

Then positive I began the hunt to aquire one that didnt cost an arm and a leg which is easier said and done when everything is either priced at insane rates or are cheap but have been heavily demolished for reassons unkown. I even nearly managed to get one but I let it slip out of my hand. As the years passed I sort of lost the excitment for it as everytime I checked it was usually the same items from the same sellers, but then a newcomer entered from the UK and posted an item for the combined kit. This time I was not gonna give up and decided that this was the one, then to my suprise I won the auction and now owned a Armorcast kit and not for a too epensive price either.

Then the waiting game began until it arrived, at this poinst I was still unsure if I would get the real deal as it went a bit cheap compared to other items. When the notice popped up I rushed to collect it and my fears were calmed as I opened the package and this appeared.

Im actually suprised that the paper had survived for so long (allthough minor dmg had been done), now time to check what came in it

All pieces from the original kit unglued, unpainted and even unsanded as it still had errors from the resin cast, one can really see the age when looking at the sponson weapons as they are nearly smaller than lasrifles (they counted as bolters on the model I think?). So how does it compare to the modern age equivlant?

Its smaller in terms of chassie length and not as tall, albeit the gun is longer (compensating for something ) details like rivets are lacking but so did the older FW Shadow (the first) and the weight isnt to shabby as the parts are rather hollow.

Again the gun is ridiculously long but thats the essence of 40k right?

Some damage had occured but the piece that had been broken of came with and attaches even without glue.

However something came with the package that I dont know what they are for, its 9 HB that looks quite old aswell and one can assume they should slot into something, but they are way to big for the original attachment points. Were these a upgrade pack or are they for another kit?

The heavy bolter on the right looks like it's from the metal land speeder kit, and the others are from space marine predators. I would guess that the original owner had planned to "upgrade" the smaller HB's on the model.

Also - congrats! it looks awesome

Oh man, I'd love to see what you do with this. There have been some really nice "restoration" projects carried out on old Armorcast resin, etc. Seen a few with some good upgrades.
