Subject: How could I use Death Korps Models with my Death Guard?

So I'm a massive fan of both the DKoK models and the DG models and I want to use them together, but DKoK models are so recognisable as the most loyal regiment of Guard in all of the imperium that I can't see it working. I'd like to use them as Renegade allies, as there just isn't any better models out there for me, not GW/FW anyway, which I'd like to keep to. I mean, the Solar Auxilia models are pretty cool, but they have way to much armour on to warrant a 5+ save.
Anyone got any ideas?

That depends.
Solar Auxilia make excellent Marauders, since they have a 4+ save.
Alternatively, I think your DKoK will be fine renegades. Much like the Cadians, I am sure DKoK equipment is shared at least across a few worlds; IIRC they're supplied by Lucius, which is a fairly major forge world, and it is unlikely that Lucius would prevent any other guard regiment from ever ever ever having the same gear they give to the DKOK.

Renegades.
a band of cultists infiltrated a Kreig supply depot. Lacing the filters of their gas masks with black rot plague, the humans within slowly succumbed to the poison, roiling in untold agony as the boils split and festered.
Gulgoth walks into the barraks promising a swift salvation, for the low low cost of embracing the Grandfather's love!

I don't think anyone from Krieg would ever turn to Chaos, they're the most thoroughly indoctrinated troops in the Imperium, and in the example above, they would most likely all choose to die, rather than turning to Nurgle for salvation. That's not even how Guard and PDF forces turn to Chaos in the first place, in most cases the troops are oblivious to the Chaos influence until it's too late, the Chaos agents having been masquerading as a religious cult or a radical political independence movement. They might have taken to the use of Chaos symbols unknowingly, after all, almost everything about Chaos is classified information, and for good reason. Forces of Chaos influence Imperial worlds through elaborate conspiracies, much like Genestealers, not through direct threats.

Have you considered combining DKoK kits with the FW Vraks Renegade kits? You might be able to create an army which seems familiar, but not quite. Or maybe your army represents Vraks Renegades who've had access to Krieg supplies?
Perhaps one of the most interesting approaches is to create an army of undead Krieg guardsmen. The Nurgle zombie plague is entirely canon and worth considering. http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Zombie_Plague

Well they could be from Kreig's sister planet, Kroog, identical in equipment and battle dress and yet not quite as loyal

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples |

Wow, thanks everyone for the quick replies.
I didn't consider that the equipment would possibly be granted to other regiments, but that's a good idea.
Also, you're right Nightlord, most probably won't know the fluff, and for those who do I can just say they're my own regiment who used the same equipment from the same forge world

The Chaos book talks about Plague marines having turned to chaos rather then continue to suffer the pox they contracted. There's no way you're going to convince me a guardsmen is harder to break will then a space marine.
But, yeah OP, I hope some one here has given you some cool ideas! I was considering buying into Kreig too, to accompany my Inquisitors. Tho, I was going to run them as Armageddon.

Vigo. Spain.

Aren't the Death Korps basically brainwashed clones that only want to die?
And, about a guardsmen being harder to break than a space marine... Sisters of Battle are, and they are normal humans.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

The men of Krieg would immediately execute anyone that even suggested "joining" the Death Guard.
But they are cold and calculating numbers guys... if threat versus resources means victory by ignoring the Death Guard for the initial battle, maybe but they'd need to fight the DG eventually.
Or, you could just make them zombies... died fighting the Death Guard, now serving them...

There is a third party seller which sells Zombie Death Korps of Krieg, does anyone remember who it is?
