As the title says, I hate GW's Wulfen figures but the rules and fluff are cool. Any reasonably priced alternatives or conversion options that folks have explored for wulfen? Dr. Google wasn't giving me much help this time around.

You could revert to the old metal ones, or at least their styling - source some actual wolf/werewolf heads (someone must make some in resin) and then find a way to add clawed beasty hands, etc. The original line of Wulfen were far more subdued and were more or less werewolfs in power armour.
Of course they also just killed people with normal marine weapons and their own claws instead of Icy McWolf Wolfer Skyspikes.

Well I was thinking about going with some straight up werewolf models and getting creative with how to indicate any special weapons if not actually doing a proper conversion with some bits.

There's a conversion (I think) I saw on here that salvaged them quite significantly by using the Primaris legs instead of the jorts thing they've got going on currently. I'll see if I can find it.

Its just chaosified space wolves. get a a wolfy wolf kit and a normal wolf kit and bash em together. maybe with some chaosy bits in there too for extra spice. Also maybe the fantasy blood reavers for extra armor explody wolfs.

Those are stunning conversions, the guy that made them is amazing
The great thing about the regular Primaris bodies is that the actual plastic Wulfen arms fit with very little modification and look like the old metal Wulfen, just larger. I bitz ordered the heads, arms and weapons off ebay and ordered enough for multiple squads, I think they worked out to around $30 for a squad of 5 or about half off retail on the terrible official plastic Wulfen squad.
If you want to go full werewolf then my secondary plan was to use Confrontation Wolfen, you can still get the prepainted plastics on Ebay and Miniature Market and they're actually really well detailed, you just need to clean up the mold lines and do some weapon conversions. The hands on the Confrontation figures are larger than the hands of the GW Wulfen, so a little work may be required to get the frost claws to fit etc, but I'd suggest bitz ordering the actual weapons just to make it easy for opponents to identify them. I've always found that people are FAR more forgiving of conversions and stand-ins when 1- you've made the effort to make them look like they represent what they actually represent and 2- fully paint and base them to the same standard or better as the rest of your army. If you half-ass the conversions, paint them like crap, or use cheap toys as stand-ins to save a buck, people tend to react negatively. If you put in the effort to really rock a conversion it'll often come through and people will write it off as a labor of love, even if they don't like the end result.

Those look awesome, I think I'll have to look at running the conversions.
