Hey everyone! I recently started playing... well playing is a loose term. Maybe more so collecting a Space Wolves army so I can actually play. I have nowhere near a good sized army, I think? I live in a city where there is a local shop that hosts tournaments and a bunch of other Warhammer related things and they all seem to be pretty close to pro. I'm getting pretty discouraged because I just don't have the funds to get to their level so I'm turning to this forum for help. I tried doing the research but I find so many different tactics that I get confused on what to actually get to move forward with my army. I sure could use some help on future purchases because I'm lost.

Here is what I have so far:

Bjorn
Murderfang
Stormfang/Stormwolf
Space Wolves start collecting box
Wulfen
Dark Imperium (minus the inceptors)
Long Fangs

Any help or push into the right direction is great appreciated!

Check out the 40k Tactics subforum for army advice, I can't help you there as I know nothing about Space Wolves.

On the other hand, you may not need to get to everybody else's level of competitiveness to have fun and have a shot at winning. You can always ask a more experienced opponent if they could bring something that might make the game interesting and not too one-sided. There are lots of players out there who will happily do that. If they won't, try to have fun anyway. The game should be enjoyable for both sides.

Hi, and welcome to Dakka. I understand the feeling of feeling overwelmed and discouraged around very competitive players in a game shop. You may want to do what I did, and introduce some friends to the lore and see if they get interested in joining the hobby with you. I have a small game club starting up with around five members. We like the lore, play with small forces, scratch build lots of stuff, and paint together. I find it much more fulfilling than going to game shops that have a competitive tournament mentality.
