So I am finishing up my Grey Knights army. By finishing I mean fully painted. Currently consists of the following.

- Custom Draigo
- Voldus
- Apothecary
- Doomglaive Dreadnought (Have another I'm considering selling)
- 13 Paladins
- Celestine and her crew
- Two Inquisitors

It's a small force but that was my original intent.

All that being said what route would you take?

Start an entirely new non imperium army or build a Scions army to work as an extension of your Grey Knights?

I prefer building armies that look cool and thematic not so much influenced by power gaming.

Just really curious what my fellow wargamers think!

Thanks in advance!

Depends, do you wanna try something vastly new? Go xenos!

If you wanna get more mileage out of your Knights however, GK is actually a great support army to put into a detachment inside of a larger force. So, really pairing them with most other chapters is a great idea.

If i were in your shoes I wouldn't ask random people on the Internet, but decide myself. If you don't choose yourself it's way more likely you regret your choice later.

The Internet can (to some extent) tell you what's powerful, but not what you're going to enjoy building and painting.

At the end of the day, roll with an expansion of your forces that you will enjoy assembling, converting, and painting.

I've found that it can be cool to run forces with a "theme" of sorts... hence why I roll primarily Imperial Armies.

As Scions go, I think those are really nice models. Perhaps you could consider painting them up as Inquisition when working alongside your knights

Again though, make sure you're looking at units you'll enjoy putting together.

You say Fiery Crash! I say Dynamic Entry!

*Increases Game Point Limit by 100*: Tau get two Crisis Suits and a Firewarrior. Imperial Guard get two infantry companies, artillery support, and APCs.

Yea it's really looking like Scions is going to be the best choice. Brings me back to my marine corps days and they aren't just a number like standard guardsmen which increases their appeal to me.

Also since no one else in my gaming group is playing imperium it's nice to be the only good guy.

Go scions if you want to increase your faction playability (ie get more choices). Go xeno (or chaos) if you want to have a "competing" army that contrasts your current one.

My imperial force originally started as Salamanders years ago, end of 2nd but really beginning of 3rd. Then I got some Space Wolves as a small detachment to work with the salamanders (before they turned all wolfy, back then my wolves couldn't even use jump packs because they preferred to keep their feet on the ground). This turned into a 3000+ salamander and 2000+ space wolf army. Then I bought guard maybe 7 years ago and started to build them as an inquisition / guard force that was put into service in the area where my wolves / salamanders operated because conflicts there were getting unreasonably more frequent (ie we were playing a lot of games and I wanted to try something new).

Point is you can get what you want but when everything you have sort of fits together in one way or another it helps bring your armies to life.
