Hey there ya'll!
So I'm in the middle of setting up a website to try and consolidate some of the army information that tends to get repeated often on tactica threads, and so comes my new site that is (currently) focusing on Craftworld Eldar. This isn't particularly relevant to the question, but it's just some nice background info haha.
So while I'm putting together the information, I have come to the point where I need to pick a layout, or rather try and figure out the best way for people who come to read the information I put down. It comes down to two basic ideas (with a third being a "happy medium", that might not be that happy).
1)
A single long page (the current layout) - This is the way I started making the site. The 'tactica' is all one a single page, with a menu at the top of all the different units. Click on the menu and it scrolls to the unit entry. Standard stuff. There's also a floating menu that follows you around, that gives you shortcuts to sections (HQ, Troops, Elites, etc) as a kind of quick-travel shortcut if you're mid page.
One big page gives you everything all in one place, but it might also come off as cluttered. Perhaps harder to navigate? This is how I started, as it's the way other knowledge-base pages I've seen were done (such as 1D4Chan), but that doesn't necessarily mean its the best option...
2)
Multiple short pages - A main menu page, and when you click on a unit it loads up a new page with just the information for that unit. Much more focused and less cluttered, but means a lot of going back and forth between pages if you're trying to read through multiple things. Does mean a lot less scrolling up and down a long page though. Pros and Cons.
3)
Multiple medium pages - Basically a cross between the two. Seperate pages for each force org slot, so a page for HQ and a page for Troops, etc.
While this may seem a bit of a "doesn't matter" kind of question, it turns out there's a lot of information that needs to go into one of these things, and I'd rather start on the right footing than end up having to rearrange everything further down the line!
