This is a fun post, I like this kind of stuff.

The LRBT in the picture though has a non-standard hull mounted lascannon. Is that an older model design or a just a studio conversion? I like the look better than the current one.

The russ in the picture is a FW Mars Alpha pattern. Much prettier.

One early tank commander, Wilhelm Swordsworth, allegedly wrote war poetry about the prowess of this vehicle, but alas only fragments remain.

I love the warped references to our times, of course they'd mix up poets, tanks and animals with each other over time!

Attacking the enemy with a cavalry sabre from the turret hatch would be all but impossible due to its awkward position, even if the crew drove the officer very close.

GW poking fun at themselves is always nice. The Regimental Standard is often a good read, I really enjoyed the piece about the "perfidious Aeldari" last week.

I love that the Sherman text references the "drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword" meme.

One chants out between two worlds: Fire, walk with me."

"You listen to me. While I will admit to a certain cynicism, the fact is that I am a naysayer and hatchetman in the fight against violence. I pride myself in taking a punch and I'll gladly take another because I choose to live my life in the company of Gandhi and King. My concerns are global. I reject absolutely revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method... is love. I love you Sheriff Truman." - Twin Peaks

I was amused. Shame they didn't reference more recent tanks (I could see them mocking the Merkava for being a glorified ambulance), but still amusing.

I wonder what they would think of the Ratte.

They probably think it'd be an outrider tank for Baneblade columns.

(in actuality that thing is larger than a baneblade, but knowing Regimental Standard they'd probably misread the specifications).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I don't get the reference regarding Wilhelm, could you explain it?

Blacksails, thanks for explaining about the forgeworld tank, I'll take a look at it.

This is one of my favorite articles they've put out to date. So many little jokes and references that it took me a couple of reads just to catch them all, and I'm sure a few still flew over my head.

That Sherman description however has to be one of the greatest paragraphs I have ever read, that was just the perfect storm of hilarious mixed with "facts" I've ever heard. To think, the Omnissiah saw fit in it's omnipotent wisdom to give us a tank with nice flat surfaces to prevent bullets from ricocheting into our troops and properly absorb las blasts, truly it is a blessed duty to serve as a tanker in the Imperial Guard.

Read the one about Harlequins and 'So you've been shot'. Both hilarious.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

A wonderfully ironic article! They have a sense of humour.

And to think I've been spelling Tyger wrong all these years!

Duffelblog is indeed solid.

My only disappointment with this article is that they did not address WW1 tanks which have a much larger influence on many of the GW designs.

I'm surprised they didn't call it a Sure-man's tank. Blessed be the humble servant of the Emperor whom drives straight and true to deliver His justice.

While we're on the subject (this may be a little off-topic) if you like tanks...here is an excellent YouTube rabbit hole:

David Fletcher's tank chats from the Tank Museum --- excellent 5-10 minute videos just discussing armour. Bonus? Excellent moustache.
