Still hyped over Necromunda - including all the changes made.

I have no problem with GW drip-feeding us stuff - and find the "day one DLC" comments both strange and lacking insight regarding the need for a company to make money. Either everybody needs to pay more for a complete base game (leading to fewer sold games - and a need for an even higher price) or the ones that like the game pays more - for additional content.

Also, legacy lists with rules for all gangs, chainswords and heavy stubbers will soon be availiable *for free*. Cannot see the problem.

I ordered one of everything Necromunda-related (and also all new releases for Tyranids and terrain plus the Blanche card deck) at my FLGS.

Feels good to support both GW and the local shop.

I totally agree that (the official) Necromunda should be quarantined from 40k.

That said, adding a few tyranids in a campaign might be fun:

Josh came off as a total douche.

Also I cannot see how alternate activation would be worse than igoyougo if one gang is cc-oriented and the other is tooled for long range.

Will be interesting to see if Underhive is unbalanced - or if Escher just requires more skill and cunning.

I honestly cannot understand why some people like the Mad Dog dude (Orlock dog handler).
In my book it is inferior to almost all other sculpts in this, amazing, release.
I need several cyber-dogs, though...

The worst sculpts are obviously the pyrr ”cats”, them being extremely bad and in poses like a Scylla from the nineties...

Regarding the ad: IMHO the Fallout Guy/Mickey thumbs up crossed the line. Not only too much Fallout and comic relief but displaying a four fingered mutant is obviously HERETICAL!

Yes, that would probably the best solution, GW/FW having a select few (under NDA) proofreading the Gang War books.

This (having different stats/costs in Rulebook, pre-printed cards, Legacy PDF x 2, GW1 and GW2 - and soon GW3) is spiralling way out of control.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I really like the Kal Jericho miniature.
It has been the base model of many of my Inq28 conversions, such as these three (incl. a Goliath for scale):

Will probably buy it and Mad Donna, despite the hideous paint job.

I simply can’t understand the reasons behind not proofreading. Blaming deadlines is one thing when discussing the bad (awful) layout choices made or that rules that got renamed late in the project are not re-sorted or not playtesting enough - but simple stuff like going over the stat tables cannot take more than a few hours per book...

Within less than an hour of reading GW2 I had found so many glaring errors and extremely strange things I just put it aside for good. Same feelings for all other published N17 rulesets. Also I am firmly with Baxx regarding the mess with several types of play (2D, 3D - with simple and advanced variants).

In total this is just unacceptable.
Great minis, great game - but rules treated in a way that spit the fans in the face.

Please do (and keep updating your compiled version - which is the only reason we keep playing N17).
An editable version would be really nice - so one could add house rules, fix some points and remove unused rules before printing.

I really hope the compiled books will turn out good as the N17 game is amazing and deserves clear rules. However my hopes are low given thei track record, and especially as there have been no (?) rumors of FW/GW contacting Yaktribe, Dakka-Baxx or other Necro clusters/rules ninjas for help with proof-reading. A shame really - and an opportunity missed.

And now something slightly off-topic (sorry):
I would like to recommend buying/reading the new Blck Library publication ”Wanted: Dead”.
Set in Necromunda the book (full of dirty deeds - and also dirt cheap!) follows an Escher gang.
I got it tonight at release (as an ebook, after midnight) and read it in one go. Really well written apart from a few minor flaws (widespread knowledge about Space Marines, a lesbian cliché romance and unrealistic combat full of time consuming dialogue).
Buy it to support Necromunda. Highly recommended!

The ‘widespread knowledge’ amounts to our heroine being aware that Space Marines are tall and have deep voices. It’s even mentioned in the story that she saw holopicts when they came to ‘Munda to recruit.

Also, when did lesbian romances become a cliché at Black Library? I must have missed that!

IMHO: If you compare how much Cawdor knows about the Emperors golden boys, she knows way too much. Even using the term ”Space Marine” is off (”The Yellow Giants” might have worked though). Much cooler if everything offworld is extremely vague. Holopics is not the same as FB or our news channels.

Cliché in the *way* it is written, not *that* it is written.
Full of cringe ”get your hands off my woman!”-dialogue and -action, etc.
Simply a pointless love story badly shoehorned into an excellent novel.

Regarding SM (actually any) knowledge in the underhive.
Although there *could* be widespread knowledge in the underhive regarding Space Marines and other off-world stuff it is far more likely (and cool) that the citizens knows very little outside of what is needed to survive on a day-by-day basis.

As for *any* kind of news trickling its way downhive I imagine it beeing in the way of many years old rumors, stories retold and old recorded pictfeeds that have been looped ten thousand times (becoming almost unreadable) behind a bar. The main flow of info would obviously be pure propaganda.

Gangs being as isolated as if in a Borneo djungle is much more fluffy than them surfing the web(way) for the latest about Space Marines. Especially since we really (x1000) need a setting without them.

Imperial Fists may recruit from Necromunda - but so do Genestealer and Chaos cults as well - without the citizens knowing anything.

For the record: I am 100% behind Baxx regarding the current rules being ruined by inconsitency and lack of proof reading.
In my book he is a true hero and his work with clearing up the rules is the only reason we still play N17.

As for the release schedule: I have no issues with the drip feed. On the contrary it has given me time to collect everything. I have even bought all books - even the latest Gang War ones that I hardly opened...

Given the history I have little hope in the compendiums adding much to the quality of rules - but with them we can atleast try to find answers to all of the problems without handling five versions of the rules.

I am a fanboy and will probably buy the slipcase version.
Heck, I even bought the LE Genestealer cult one because the hazard stripes on it reminded me of Necromunda

Got the new books.
Lots of small good rules tweaks and clarifications.
Stimms are once per game, chem-synth doesn't require an action (but a passed Int check), bulging biceps allows you to use a unvieldy (two handed) weapon with ine hand but does not make unvieldy a single action, overseer is 6”, etc.

The layout is in places still black text on dark brown-grey background - which sucks for aging eyes in poor/atmospheric gaming light. This combined with *no index* makes it hard to look up rules when playing - even though the rules are organized way better now.

No index (how hard can it be?) means that if questions arise regarding if you become ”Engaged” if your charge is a bit short but you have a Versatile weapon (no, not as a free part of the charge move) or if you can use template pistols in CC (no, only pistols with the Sidearm trait - so FW resin hand flamer spam makes even less sense) or finding any sort of info regarding fighter status: Hidden becomes a lenghty flipping through the books :(

Also bought all the Delaque stuff - and made a few quick conversions:

I didn’t - Baxx was just dropping a general comment regarding that not all previously published material made it into the new books.
Not really a problem from my point of view. Less is (sometimes) more.

I will buy atleast three Kal minis.
One to build as intended, one for an Arbites conversion and one that will become an Inquisitor. Not that interested in the extra Scabbs though.

Quote from the ”Book of Judgement”, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Roleplay, (suggested reading for Andy Hoare and others):
”The objectives of local Enforcers and Imperial Arbitrators often overlap, and the two work in conjunction when it is mutually beneficial. However, there are also occasions when they come into direct conflict.
In practice, the Arbitrators are tasked to punish criminal activity, root out cultists and illegal gatherings, eliminate organised gangs, and are often unleashed en mass to quell riots.”

Also, a rumour of somebody in the underhive having access to a STC, running a government funded drug operation, selling off equipment ment for the PDF/AM, handling xenos tech or beasts, stealing mining robots thus sabotaging the planetary tithe, etc. would probably justify a AA task force...

I am still hoping for a kit that lets you build real Adeptus Arbites.

... or they could release a dual purpose kit based on the *brilliant* Jes Goodwyn 2nd edition Adeptus Arbites - so we can build both real Arbites (for Necro, Kill Team, Blackstone and 40k) and local wannabes...

This would sell 100 X an Enforcer pack...

Still no explanation on why they changed ”Palatine” (as in Palatine Hive/Cluster) to ”Palanite”?
Is it a deliberate change (why?) as ”Spook”->”Ghast” or just misspelled?

>Well, they lost a Necro customer with the quick release of the compendium rules/gang book

For me it was the complete opposite.
I also bought all the Gang War books - but they were such a mess that I might have abandoned N17 had they not released the compendium/N18 (which clarified some parts).

Also Treadneedle worms are supposed to be the ultimate assassin tool (also in the fluff of the The Book of Judgement*).

So a gang gets hold of this biological tactical nuke, somehow manages to code it to the genetical fingerprint of all individual members of the opposite gang (atleast if rolling a 6) - and it does hardly any real damage...
I get ”Rule of cool” - but this is just strange.

*referring to ”The Book of Judgement” from FS/GW - not to be mistaken for ”The Book of Judgement” from FFG.
The former is obviously about Enforcers and the second about Adeptus Arbites. Not at all confusing compared to the book ”Enforcer” being all about Arbites

I hope they will first release a second Enforcer *plastic* kit: Subjugators...

I guess Palanites sold really well and another ”Adeptus Arbites” box would make Enforcers even more interesting as an 40k army.

A resin kit (as expected) wouldnt sell a fraction of a boxed plastic one.

Read ”The Book of Judgement”, page 80, quote:

Which means we still don't know.
But there are still complaints about a price we're not actually certain about yet.
Carry on.

As we do know that many of the prices on the leaked/faked list are totally off (such as a paint pot holder for USD48 or a red paint handle for 67.50) I think (hope) it is safe to assume that this is also the case for the Necro box. Either are (some of) the prices misstyped, doctored, randomly generated or simply *representing a minimum order*, i.e. twenty pot holders, six handles and two Necro boxes...
USD145 for the box would be reasonable.
Thoughts?
