The original release in 1995 was identical, it took 5-6 months for the 6 houses' models to be released.

Rules for other houses will probbly be available for free on the Necromunda website at release - the Legacy Gang rules - it would be similiar to what Blood Bowl got.

You can always play with your old models or converted gangs. Use IG or GSC for example to play with until the other gangs got released. And there are a lot of other manufacturer gang/scifi models already available. I use Moonraker's Scavengers.

It has not been announced yet, but with the Legacy Gang rules it would not be surprising if GW offers classic Necromunda gangs via made-to-order.

Excellent Nog, thanks for posting. Good prices. I feared the starter would cost 125 EUR. Relieved to see it doesn't.

Beastmen are like Ogryns, Squats and Halflings - as mentioned already, abhumans

I like them, always wanted a few for my IG (Victoria offers new minis)

The beastman on top but 40 years older? A nice nod to the past imo

Hey I’m new here just seen this response on the FB page and thought it might be of interest:

Hi Steve! The Gang War expansion will build on the rules found in the Necromunda: Underhive box game. It will allow gamers to use 3d terrain in their games as well as containing an incredibly detailed campaign system. Each of the gangs from yesteryear will be initially covered in a free downloadable pdf, which will be available on the Necromunda website soon.

I cannot recommend Compilation I and II on Yaktribe's Vault enough, collecting most original Necromunda articles (incl Citadel Journal, etc) in two pdfs. Lots of material, including missions, and new gangs like Genestealer Cults. Especially the first Collection (ORB) might give a good look into what they might bring back for the new edition of the game, tons of ideas

Preview copies arrive in shops today, a first unboxing (found by Anthony, Yaktribe.org)

Translation (german, austrian actually): He isn't offering much new info in the video except maybe his comments about the product quality: Sturdy tactic cards, tiles and scenery sprues. All sprues have crisp detail, the infantry ones are nothing short of GW's modern multipart kits. It is not board game plastic or of reduced quality. The video's low defintion (360p) made it hard to get much info out of the rulebook. The three leaflets at the beginning of the video were quickstart rules with a mission and two teaser flyers with the game's release date etc. These are surprisingly good quality dice. The cardboard markers were easy to remove. There may have been a few interesting things in the book. I will give it a second look later.

Vegeta365 got his box and Gang War book and is now posting photos and answering a few questions

https://yaktribe.games/community/threads/new-official-necromunda-in-2017.5994/page-134#post-123802

Apologies I had so much to do. I am now going to build the 2 gangs but have been looking through some bits. Early points to note that I don’t believe have been covered:

Only comes with 22 blank character cards. I wonder if they will sell these separately eventually?

Tactics cards - 4 specific Escher and 4 specific Goliath cards. 2x 10 non gang specific cards so choose from 14 cards at the moment.

Dice - I hadn’t seen it confirmed, but the firepower (sustained fire) dice has 3 1’s (1 of which is the out of ammo), 2 2’s and 1 3. The injury dice has 3 serious injury facings, 2 flesh wound and 1 out of action.

Floor tiles - I have owned zone mortalis since the day it was released. Not used it anywhere near as much as I would like but fully enjoy it. Not sure if I had never measured and not noticed or if I had just forgotten, but they are not 12’ tiles they are 30cm so a bit short of making a 4x4 board or whatever. By contrast the card tiles in the box set are actually 29cm x 29cm so 1cm smaller than zone mortalis. Now this doesn’t matter that much as you likely wouldn’t use a mix of the 2 unless you were planning to slowly upgrade your Necromunda tiles with sexy ZM tiles, but (and I haven’t glued the plastics together yet) it likely means the doors don’t quite fill the space perfect on the FW resin ZM tiles if you were planning on getting lots to make a much cheaper way of having doors. It can’t be much at all in it given only 1cm loss over a 30 cm tile but just in case. The tiles are 1 of each of the ZM tiles with 2 of one type. Both sides are the same tile but one side has either holes in the floor, toxic mist or demolished walls.

Army lists - very different house equipment lists. Very limited by what can currently be taken between each gang, which actually feels like a good thing. 1 Ganger can take a special weapon so including the leader and 2 champions you could technically have 4 models with a special weapon now (instead of 3). Leaders and champions have no restrictions so you could have 3 models with a heavy weapon (though at the moment Goliath have access to only one and Escher none).

The cards are not mandatory. This is not like Shadespire. Also Underhive is a complete game in a box. Like Overkill, Calth, Execution Force and the other boxed games.

Necromunda is also not a competitive game at all.

Got Underhive, Gang Wars and a box of 25mm bases preordered. The latter for some converted gangers made of Dark Vengeance Cultists. After getting this shipment and building these gangs, GSC Hybrids will probably be my next purchase.

Rogue Trader indeed Andy H's posts on the Oldhammer forum

I'm The product manager for the Necromunda release, and I'm as much as an Oldhammerer as anyone on this board, having started the Tales from the Maelstrom blog with Gadge and others back around 2006. I've made the new edition as oldhammer friendly as possible and a couple of people from this very forum have playtested it, so I truly hope it's received in that spirit

Interesting, thanks for asking, MDG

This - and I'm dead serious here - may still mean such models could be released by GW instead. Plastic. As a 40k Arbites force like in 2 Ed 40k. This would still coincide with WD's Temporal Distort article.

Remember the podcast with James Hewitt linked earlier in this thread? The FW/Specialist team did not know much about SWA, these were two teams developing independently from each other. SWA came from the GW rules development team. James was surprised when he heard of that project. Very few communication between these parallel projects.

We are also waiting for another board game. Maybe Arbites will be part of that and it is a GW product like Overkill and Execution Force.

I still consider the Arbites rumors plausible.

GSC were not part of the gangfights back in the early phase of Necromunda in the mid to late 90s. Also Adeptus Arbites were not a playable faction similiar to gangs in the original Necromunda if I remember correctly. We could see these added to the game via WD and not FW Maybe in special scenarios.

It is a very small group who designs this. Blood Bowl gets a team every three months (Dwarfs, Skaven, Goblins and now Elves in December).

While I had hoped for a faster release schedule, there are hundreds of other suitable miniatures by other manufacturers and I have everything already to support a local group of players for now. The interest here (small student city) is very high, especially with folks who are more into RPG and story-based games.

We are already discussing new rules written by ourselves. One player would love to start an Inquisitorial warband and will use gang rules for a start but we are tinkering with new rules.

We haven't seen anything yet that's actually keeping us from playing Necromunda. We love the integration of Confrontation material. For our group this game is about life in the Imperium, focussing on gangs for now but we will expand it into Inq24-like games and other directions.

For me Necromunda has never been a plug-and-play, pick-up gaming experience. That's what Shadespire is for. Which is also a GW product and therefore prominently available in GW stores.

After unboxing my set I still think the Underhive box is a nice product. Very happy with the content.

We can bear buying a copy of Gang War each three months. Like with Chapter Approved this is not about the gang rules only. I appreciate all the content in these books.

Also can't wait for the new board tiles.

After reading the designer's notes I can understand and respect the initial limited availability of heavy weapons.

Looking forward to more resin models from FW so we can order a larger batch around new year.

This is not true. And not at all what Andy Hoare and James Hewitt said. Andy mentioned early playtesters were very happy with the Zone Mortalis version. On oldhammer-forum.co.uk he posted that a bunch of the playtesters were veteran players. Stop making this up

So Andy said they have added 2D terrain late in development? This is what I was responding, too. I did not get the impression from what was communicated.

I went from being curious at first (Atia rumors in September 2016) to the more I saw the more I like it. Also an interesting bit of info, HBMC, thanks for posting.

January 2018 WD is a good issue with some proper content (2 pages of rules for Necromunda, 4 page-scenario Warhammer Quest Hammerhal, 6 pages Lord of the Rings, a 4-page conversion guide for Tau buildings, lots of painting guides) - a recommended purchase
