So, it seems that the carnifex is getting rules for those little bitz in the box. I hate it. Let me explain.

For one, hormagants do not get toxin sacs or adrenal glands in the box.
For two, I think they are the ugliest things on a model, ever.

The Adrenal gland looks absolutely stupid on top of the carapace of the models. It's unsightly, doesn't match, and doesn't eeb make snese to put a giant ugly gland ABOVE the armor of a critter. You can't even see toxin sacs.

On the Carnifex, past 4th, the heads didn't matter. Now, I am not going to locate all of my missing botz to find those bioplasma heads to make my screamer killers. It was bad enough that suddenly the tail mattered. I have a mixture of mace and scythe tails, because the looked cool. With the model cement, it is impossible to remove them, with out mangling the model.

Are we really expected to source a ton of aftermarket bitz or rebuy the whole army to satisfy WYSIWYG?

What I started doing is painting a AG+TS in big letters on the bases of the carnifex.

For the gaunts, I have a base, with a giant flag that lists the biomorphs, that way the person I ma playing knows what they have. I also kit each and every model identical. Each termagant will have TS+AG, or just AG, or just TS, but never different, so not to confuse anyone. Same thing with all of anything that has more than one that I can't show on the model.

I hate GW most of the time, I can't beleive I have been playing since 1987. I would probably be a much happier gamer if I never did play.

Food for thought, I have models for both of my armies from every edition since 1987, including the Space Crusade box set, and White Dwarf Article, as well as the Chaos Worshiping Genestealer cult rules from WD. Here is a list of what I would have to change to be WYSIWYG

60 Devilgaunts
120 Termagants
30 Spinegaunts
30 Hormaganuts
48 Tyranid Warriors
7 Carnifex
2 Trygons
3 Hive Tyrants
60 Genestealers
10 Raveners
30 Gargoyles.............

ALL PAINTED AND BASED. I really hate GW most of the time.

Stalking the void since 1987.

I'm just going to talk about the wysiwyg part, the rest is just qqing to me.

There is a difference in a 1mm sac and a 1" weapon, sacs and glands are like grenades on SM, it doesnt really come up much, unless you have multi units some with and some without.

I've done some tournaments and 1/2 the time the other player doesnt even know 1/2 the stuff for many armies other than Weapons.

Edit: The Carnifex box is completely different than Gants, a 1mm upgrade vs a Tail mod, IMO just as long as model has a tail weapon (It is a weapon) then it needs to be model on it, now what tail? no one cares there are like 6 different ones. Literally no one at tournamets or locals will care just as long they can see you have an extra weapon.

You could play narrative games and just run them as what ever they are modeled as.

Also you don't really have to worry about the small stuff like adrenal glands and toxin sacs, they are not very noticeable any way, I'd just focus on the main weapons, as long as they are right most people won't give you grief about other bits and bobs as long as it is in your army list. Honestly who even knows what a normal carnafex head looks like next to a sreamer killer anyway.

Just give your opponent a copy of your army list to reference during the game.

You have a huge army, which means you can play a lot of different decent lists. Avoid super competitive tournaments, seeking the most effective list available means you'll always add something to your army and you'll never be satisfied with that.

You have enough to play semi-competitive friendly games.

Unless tour going to a tournament where the houses rules include wysiwyg there is no rule requiring wysiwyg in 8th.

The answer is build your models to look cool how you want to and as long as 2 similar models with different load outs are distinct so your opponent knows whats going on, feth it. Have fun.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Dude most people can barely remember basic Imperial upgrades. You could tell me that Carnifex was the dreaded One Eyed One Horned Flying Purple People Eater and I'd probably believe it. Heck I play guard, a pretty common faction, and most people still just take my word for what a given model or piece of wargear is because they just don't really care. As long as you're not calling stabby arms guns or something I think you're fine.

It's not like you're playing space marines all armed with flamers. Odds are only a nid player even knows what half those upgrades look like and he's probably in the same boat as you.

Probably work

I play nids too sometimes, though admittedly infrequently. I'm a stickler for WYSIWYG, and I'd have zero idea what the one blobby thing you put on the one nid would be compared to the one blobby thing you put on the other nid.

Any other army would get you a glare, but it's nids. You get a free pass on that stuff. Enjoy it.

If it's not a fairly stock Imperial weapon, no one will even know what it is anyway. Don't worry about it.

I've played one tournament that was wysiwyg. They didn't care about small things like, grenades, sac's and other small things. They cared that if you're dude had an axe, that his stats showed an axe. Same thing with the different guns. But as others have said nobody keeps track of bug guns. It'd be different if it was a bolter vs plasma gun, that's fairly obvious.

This, so much this.

As much as on internet everybody is an expert in all the armies, in real life, normally people only knows the names and how the Space Marine weapons look. Your average game doesn't know s**** about your Tau weapons (Maybe the Railgun because is a very obvious one), or Eldar or Tyranid weapons.
This is like Space Marines without grenades in the model. If someone pointed you that they don't have one on the model and it isn't WYSIWYG, just punch him on the face and take his miniatures, he doesn't deserve them.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Just to play devils advocate, you're trying to gain an in game advantage. Should we not care about sponsons being properly modeled?

This is my only real gripe with power levels. Every sergeant with a free thunder hammer and every possible upgrade in a tank when you wouldn't waste the points any other time.

Anyways, I can see certain biomorphs becoming Strategems or some sort. So it might not even come up.

They're Nids! No one cares about the upgrades on nids enough to give you crap about it. The tails, the glands, as long as the list is legal, you can take toxin sacs and call them adrenal glands for all I care. With the carnifex though, yeah the rule for the head is stupid.

The Carnifex is getting rules for all the little bits in the box? Good. That's exactly how it was when the kit was first released.

I deliberately modeled my termagants with the spinefists instead of the fleshborers because I felt the fleshborers looked too much like a human's machine gun. I just give my opponent a heads up first and I've never had any issues.

Embrace WYSIWYG. You will become more powerful when you do.

... I need to explain why?

Okay. When you go completely wysiwyg, you'll only collect an army and make a list that is completely, 100% premeditated.

When you are sure what your miniatures actually are, you will find success.

My GK interceptors have falchions in my list, but so far everyone has been ok with the halberds the models actually have because the models are 10 years old and metal. Give people some credit man, it’s really not a big deal.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

Oh, I don't enforce wysiwyg to other people. Just to me. That is among one of the things that makes my army strong.

It's about premeditation.
