In Battle Forged army how many detachments can you have?
It seems to me from the main rule book you can have any number of them.

just want to be sure.

You can have an unlimited number of them. The matched play rules have a guideline on a limit based on total point values (the table on page 214), and this is what the majority of people seem to use when playing Matched Play games.

In Narrative games, there is no enforced or recommended limit.

There is a small point of contention as to whether or not you can take so many auxiliary support detachments as to start the game with zero or negative command points, due to the vague nature of the official FAQ (Designers Commentary). One reading states that "you can never start a battle with fewer than 0 Command Points" means you can take as many Aux Detachments as you want and you'll never go below 0, while another reading states that "you can never start a battle with fewer than 0 Command Points" means that you literally can never start a battle if you have fewer than 0 command points, making armies with negative command points illegal.

The first reading is clearly the only one valid.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"
