On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

Well it's Halloween and time for the ghosts and ghoulies to enjoy their day! My wife and I are heading over to the house of one of our neighbors who always throws a fine shindig. It's just above freezing outside, but we'll be in costume grilling and enjoying libations. I'm going as a Werewolf and my wife is dressing up as a Witch(insert comment here).

What's everybody else up to today/tonight?

Somewhere in south-central England.

I will head up the road to Friar Park to see what pumpkin display Lady Harrison has put up for the season.

This is the main gate. They put up fantastic piles of pumpkin lanterns on both sides.

After that, a quiet night at home with a couple of Dark & Stormy cocktails...

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

I’ll be avoiding trick or treaters by hiding with the lights off and watching scary stuff like Stranger Things 2. We had our real Halloween celebrations over the weekend and I’m still slightly hung over.

Lights off, leaving an empty bowl with a "Please Take One" sign.

Working remote tonight, but at least I can watch Game 6.

Since halloween is for children and it shows them people can be nice and not want nothing from them in return. I will be giving out candy and hopefully giving kids a good day.

Not like there is not already enough days in the year for ...... other people to get drunk and act like idiots.

Also I trick or treated as a kid so it would be a dick move not to give out candy pay forward and such.

Halloween here is a bit odd. There's enough media for kids to get really excited, but a lot of adults tend to be unaware its happening. So you have to know of pockets where groups of houses are actually doing it, because if you just go around randomly knocking you'd be lucky to get more than one or two houses.

Fortunately there's a big block of houses surrounding a lake five minutes from our place. So I took my 4 year old daughter, dressed as a mermaid, the world's least practical walking costume, and we walked this circuit around all the houses, with probably 100 to 200 other kids. The neighbour brought his kid along with a friend, and credit to them for being very patient as my daughter struggled to keep up with her fishtail dress. At the end my daughter had quite a haul, but she was a bit offput - I think she was more interested in people telling her how pretty her mermaid costume was than getting the treats, but with so many kids at every house that didn't happen.

Meanwhile my wife hung around out the front of our house chatting to the neighbour and handing out chocolate to the three groups that wandered by over the whole night.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

Adam Smith, who must have been some kind of leftie or something.

Here in Romania they don't seem to celebrate it at all. Went out to a local restaurant in the small town we're in, they said they expected a little more business from the American's tonight, but that was it.

Was a real good meal though.

Back home, the kids seemed to have a good time. Wife sent me some video of my daughter just running non-stop house to house. She's a freaking machine on Halloween.

My son had his buddy tag along for the first time ever. It was weird because normally our neighborhood is dead and so we drive the next town over to the rich neighbourhood and get a haul. Well we picked his buddy up and they wanted to hit a couple streets here. They got hammered with candy in only a couple streets and when we went to the rich place they had half of what they used to have there. So this year was all topsy turvy but we all had a good time
