I am now using a paint handle to paint my models. i use cork with a wire that sticks into a hole i drill in my bits so i can paint then build. my last several bits keep falling off as i paint them. what is the best way to make my bits stick without superglue because i don't pin plastic models together. thanks.

Honestly, I'd just recommend building the model before painting, rather than after. Much less fiddly.

Lesson I remember from an article on painting a War Walker from the GW site years ago, is to do partial progress on your Pinning for things - you drill and fit the pin in the fiddly piece of choice, then you use a second pin vise to hold the pin like it would a drill bit, and paint with that.

It's kind of the same as your idea, but with the tighter grip of the screw-tight collet off the pin vise to keep it snug.

No. the metal wire isn't falling out of the cork the plastic pieces are falling off the metal wire. i need help to make the plastic bits stay on the wire while i paint it then remove it after.

Use a smaller drill bit so it’s a more snug fit when you put the wire in

A Slightly smaller drill bit or a slightly thicker pin or super glue it in with a tiny bit of super glue. works pretty well for me

otherwise what i do is keep a bit of the spure attached if its on a part that wont be seen like in bottom of foots or torsos.

Yeah, you drill bits with a specific wire gauge size so when you need one that's just a touch smaller you know to go to the next numbered drill bit.

If you have a particularly deep hole (obviously not always possible) you can bend the wire so it jams in better. Put 2 bends in the wire, 1 bend will make it want to wiggle round and pop off eventually but 2 bends will tend to hold it in place.

Oh. My combination is a 1/32" drill bit and 20 gauge wire- the 20ga is a little bigger than the bit, makes a nice snug fit.

I do the same thing, but I always use superglue. It will often bond for the whole painting process even if I don't drill a hole for it in the plastic, yet it takes a very small amount of force to simply break it away when done.

Also, if your bits keep falling off, I recommend that you see a doctor. =]
