Hey Dakkanauts.

I am assembling some tempestus scions (because they look cool). I have existing Astra Militarum and space wolf armies that are pretty large. These will not be fielded as an Astra Militarum force stand alone often, if ever.

So the question.... how to assemble 30x scions (6 packs)? My thoughts are basically this.

1x tempestor prime (magnetize arms and cloak / backpack swap)
4x squad leaders (magnetize both arms)
11x hot shot lasguns
10x plasma guns (will convert these obviously)
4x got shot volley guns

This allows options like command squad with 4 plasma
3x 5 man squads with plasma
1x 10 man squad with volley guns (could sub plasma and move volleyguns to command squad)

Or use tempestor as squad leader and go 5 x 5 man squads of plasma (can sub volley of you wish)

I will magnetize the trucks either way....

Thanks for any input!

Sounds like you have the right idea. I like volley guns and meltas to a degree but you can't go wrong with plasma, especially since it will get the extra shots on a 6+ on drop unlike meltas and volley guns.

If you can magnetize the special weapons you'd be set but that'd be tough. Never know when plasma could get hit by the nerf bat and we need a different weapon for the glory boys.

Im personally going to slice up my old flamer scions and plasmacize them, I had plenty of Meltas from last edition, I just dont know what do with my Kasrkin, I want them to have the proper weapons....but theyre Kasrkin and I think my opponents wont question me too much if the weapons are wrong on such magnificent models.

You won't be sad if you throw a few meltaguns in there. I've been running 2 squads of ten, one with 4x plasma and one with 4x melta backed up by a prime. The melta guys have been doing a mighty fine job of assassinating characters on the deep strike. In 4 games they've capped 2 Ork warbosses and a Khorne Daemon Prince.
