- Chaos Space Marines Battalion -
HQ:
Lord on Steed of Slaanesh - Combi-Bolter, Power Sword, Intoxicating Elixir
Sorcerer - Bolt Pistol, Force Sword
Troops:
Noise Marines: 9 w/ Boltguns, Champion w/ Power Sword
Noise Marines: 9 w/ Boltguns, Champion w/ Power Sword
Noise Marines: 3x Sonic Blaster, 1x Blastmaster, Champion w/ Sonic Blaster
Dedicated Transport:
Chaos Rhino: 2x Combi-Bolter, Havoc Launcher
Fast Attack:
Chaos Bikers: 2x Melta Gun, Champion w/ Bolt Pistol
Heavy Support:
Defiler - Reaper Autocannon, Scourge
- 1000pts -

A relatively fluffy list based off of my Emperor's Children 30k army.
The Lord seeks out enemy characters to find glory.
The Sorcerer pretty much exists to cast Warptime on the Bikers to get them into Melta range.
Boltgun Marines are objective holders and anti-infantry firepower. One unit will take the rhino into the mid-field so it can also shoot.
Sonic Marines will probably set up in their own cover and intimidate the opponent out of cover.
Bikers are around to help against armour/monsters because I thought the Defiler might not be enough.
Defiler shoots and will move to support whatever it needs to.
Got a serviceable 6CP for shenanigans, too.

So what do you guys think?

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

Thematically I love it; and as a loyalist marines player can support having 25 infantry boots on the ground at 1k points.

Bikers seem solid; isn't the sorcerer one hell of a tax to speed them up though? those points might be better invested in a 2nd rhino...

I also can't help but feel a Defiler (while a gorgeous model) and 2 meltaguns are a little lacking as your army's anti-tank. if you were to drop the sorcerer, and defiler; maybe you could squeeze a land raider? In 8th they're ard as nails, and 4 lascannons would help dish out the mortal wounds..... deployment wise it could potentially screen the lord too.... just a thought?

By dropping the Defiler, Bikers and Rhino I can get a Lamdraider in, but then I feel th army has a low model count. And I'd also be relying heavily on a single (very tough, but still single) model for anti-tank.

Going up against things like AdMech Neutron Lasers or Guard Lascannon spam I don't think it'd last long. How do you think Predators/Demolishers stand up? Or is it just worth putting the eggs in one basket for the LR because it's that much better?

I feel like your Lord should be running dual claws. You'd be getting more out of that elixer I feel if you did that, especially if you plan to have him in cc mostly.

Also, What are your feelings on running daemonettes instead of base noise marines? You could save points for elsewhere with that instead of marines in boxes. Maybe enough for a termie squad with combi-plas or a couple squads of raptors with melta if you need anti-tank.

Gotta say that given the points; I disagree, 25 marines isn't a low body-count. though us loyalist scumbags do have the benefit of combat squads... would it be worth buying them as 5, 5 man squads? or does that leave you too vulnerable to leadership and morale? not a chaos player but trying my best to help you out xD

Predators hold up rocking the quad lascannons if you're asking as an alternative to the land raider? of course you lose out on the transport capacity and a twin heavy bolter (in addition to any extra weapons)

Lord with duel claws would be superior to the current loadout

as a matter of interest do you know what legion trait you're thinking of playing?
