New player looking for some feedback on an army I'm helping a friend with. After building up the starter box and picking up a devastator squad they are looking to expand to 1k points by adding investors and a tank.

It is Designed to be an all round list playing to the Ultramarines ability to fall back and shoot. With the venerable and the predator taking and hopefully surviving attacks until the capt and the inceptors can strike behind enemy lines, his relic blade is a strong deterrent against assaults against the inceptors and the tac squads are screening the dread and predator while the scout squad can target special characters if the objectives call for it. I have no experience in game with SMs personally only watching some games online. But hoping this army is a good foundation for working up to 1500 or 2000 points.

At my desk

Your Captain looks like a solid Character eater and melee deterrent, and while I don't know too much about him I am aware that Chronus makes a Predator much better than standard (and they were already good as standard).
I would fear you are lacking in boots on the ground though. I'd say drop the autocannon on the dread (the
lascannon would be doing the heavy lifting anyway and a DCCW is a scary melee option for defending your back line) and the heavy bolters for more regular Marines, just so the units have more staying power.
I am personally a big fan of Inceptors for destructive backfield shenanigans, so they're all good.

I'd say it's overall a solid list, and a decent starting point for building up to larger games, it just needs a little tweaking. My two cents.
