If it says not to glue, should you still glue it?

I've finally gotten around to working on the Baneblade I purchased a few years ago and the sheer number of turrets has forced me to finally ask this question. Obviously the horizontal traverse of any Imperium turret isn't really a problem--you just don't paint where the two pieces touch and they slide just fine. But when gravity comes into play--with friction/pinch hinges, or worse, ball joints--is it worth the risk of limp turret guns or scraped paint at the hinge point? Or should you just glue the vertical traverse?

Or is there some secret to fitting these parts I've not yet found?
The six lasguns on a Chimera I recently built scraped as soon as I tried fitting them, but I've seen plenty of people with ones that moved so someone must be doing it right.

(this is of course an issue with doors/ramps but I've yet to really find any substantial discussion on the topic either way)

I generally glue them. Not interested in moving around them and it\s just too much hasle and extra work. Especially hate the rhino backdoor. Painting interior extra work and it never seems to stay shut properly so just glue it in.

LOS we can figure out from sponsons etc anyway since we play for fun rather than super accurate. It's not issue for us if gun doesn't move

I would personally magnetize them so you can not only move them about without fear of damaging anything, you can switch out weapons for different loadouts.

I magnetize anything that would move.

If there is a weapon selection option then dont glue them, pin them or mag them.

For everything else it simply dosent matter so just glue it, unless you are an artist that wants to showcase every single detail of the model.

Ah, thanks. Sounds like replacing the press fit hinge with magnets is the way to go. Being more of a hobbyist, I'd never really intended to do swapable loadouts so hadn't even thought to pursue magnets, but that seems like an elegant solution.

Personally i glue it if its kinda irrelevant.

like the side to side motion of the frag storm launcher on the repulsive.

but all the weapon options i magnetize.

Rhino backdoors don’t get glued, just to have somewhere to store extra weapon swaps.

I've found that for most moving parts, if you paint them then assemble, the thickness of the paint is enough to pressure fit them together without slouching. It is admittedly the lazy way of doing things, but it works.
