Local shop is having an 3 round ITC based event later this month.

They have announced that we are using Mission 2,4 and 6 from the Combined Arms Missions packet( https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yMBZ9xROQ8y_GJtCW-05mk0lK-Lz9VHhL6Ao_BmZORk/edit )

The local meta is almost all Imperial armies (blood angles, ravengaurd, generic sm, wolf, AM/Skitarii mix etc.) focused on very little melee and heavy shooting.

Based on prior events we normally only get to end turn 3 at most.

Since 8th has come out I have not played very many games where I have been able to win. So will need help getting my lists in order.

My possible armies are either Necron or Chaos.

This is the current version of the Chaos army I can put together by Tournament time:

2000
Battalion Detachment +3CP
Legion: Alpha Legion

+ HQ +
Chaos Lord with Jump Pack: Combi-bolter, Mark of Slaanesh, Power sword
Sorcerer in Terminator Armour: Combi-bolter, Force sword, Mark of Slaanesh

+ Troops +

3x Chaos Cultists: 9x Chaos Cultist w/ Autogun, Mark of Slaanesh
Cultist Champion: Autogun

+ Elites +

Noise Marines
Noise Champion: Chainsword, Sonic blaster
1x Marine w/ Blastmaster
4x Marine w/ boltgun
8x Marine w/ Sonic blaster

+ Heavy Support +

Havocs: Mark of Slaanesh
Aspiring Champion: Chainsword, Combi-bolter
2x Havoc w/ boltgun
4x Havoc w/ heavy weapon: Missile launcher

Havocs: Mark of Slaanesh
Aspiring Champion: Chainsword, Combi-bolter
2x Havoc w/ boltgun
4x Havoc w/ heavy weapon: Missile launcher

Battalion Detachment +3CP
Legion: World Eaters

+ HQ +
Chaos Lord: 2x Lightning Claw, Mark of Khorne
Daemon Prince with Wings: Khorne, Malefic talon

+ Troops +
Khorne Berzerkers
Berzerker Champion: Chainaxe, Chainsword
9x Chainsword and Chainaxe

Khorne Berzerkers
Berzerker Champion: Chainaxe, Chainsword
9x Chainsword and Chainaxe: 9x Chainaxe

Khorne Berzerkers
Berzerker Champion: Chainaxe, Chainsword
8x Chainsword and Chainaxe: 8x Chainaxe

+ Dedicated Transport +

Chaos Rhino: Combi-bolter, Mark of Khorne
Chaos Rhino: Combi-bolter, Mark of Khorne
Chaos Rhino: Combi-bolter, Mark of Khorne

Building up the bodies for pure CSM as I started Chaos as a Daemonkin player that has more models on the Khorne daemon than humans.

I'm curious about your choice of missile launchers over lascannons - are you expecting to encounter flyers, and want to ensure you have access to the Flakk missile stratagem? Or are you relying on the frags for anti-horde and the krak missiles for anti-tank? I like the theory, and YMMV, but I don't like the D6 to hit rolls for the frag missiles - I just feel it's too unpredictable versus say a heavy bolter. Given you're looking at facing a lot of Space Marine varieties, perhaps a lascannon would be a better choice for at least one squad, to really ensure you've got the high strength to knock out tanks quickly?

Depending on how much you keep the zerks together I might consider a dark apostle or exalted champ instead of the daemon prince or chaos lord.

Since it's for a tournament, there's also the opportunity to use alpha legion to infiltrate the berzerkers so they don't spend a few turns sitting in a rhino without attacking, at fewer attacks of course. I'd keep the rhinos if there were another lascannon target for them to distract.

The SM armies have cut back on tanks and upped their small squads of bikes with stormshields. So even with the randomness, d6 shots help overcome those shields in mass shooting I guess. Will think about switching them though.

And, yes, the three tanks/Prince stay together. I had forgotten about the Exalted Champ, changing the Khorne Lord to that.

Ah okay, I see what you're going for, weight of fire over one single (saveable) shot. I'm here to learn as much as offer advice - I used to consider Missile Launchers and Autocannons the go-to weapon for Havocs, but these days it seems like Lascannons or Heavy Bolters.
