Hey all,

Been out of town since the codex dropped, so I haven’t been able to properly test out my new list. Would welcome some constructive criticism. The T and R are to remind myself who starts on the table and who starts in reserve. Gets tough to remember after 24 drops!

Just to clarify, this is for competitive play. Looking to see if I can optimize it further...think it might lack some teeth

Not sure about the Hive tyrant being the warlord, but I can make his guns twin-linked vs a specific unit type....suck it conscripts!

Kraken Brigade:
Swarmy - 300 (w/pod 425) (2R)
Flyrant - 198 (R) (-1 to hit relic, warlord)
Malanthrope - 90 (T)

3 Lictor squads - 135 (3 R)

20 Genestealers - 240 (R)
16 Genestealers - 192 (R)
3 Rippers - 33 (R)
3 Rippers - 33 (R)
3 Rippers - 33 (T)
3 Rippers - 33 (T)

3 Mucolid squads - 60 (3T)

3 Biovore squads - 108 (3T)

Jormungdr Outrider:
Neurothrope - 70 (T)

28 Devilgants - 224 (R)

3 Raveners w/deathspitters - 84 (R)
2 Mucolid squads - 40 (2T)

Looks cool. I think I would cash in Swarmy, and his pod for a Broodlord, and invest the savings elsewhere.

The will of the hive is always the same: HUNGER

It’s something I’m considering. He is amazing but if I can weather literally one turn of shooting, I have a lot of great things. I just don’t know if I can weather literally one turn of shooting. Will definitely test out both sides

How is the Flyrant equipped? 4x Devourers? How are the genestealers deployed? In reserve via infestation nodes and then use pheromone trail to have them pop up near lictors?

Love the devilgant bomb. It's the shooty teeth that nids so desperately needed and I feel like most competitive lists will be including one. Would kind of like to see the jormungandr detachment fleshed out a little bit to make the best use of its wonderful stratagem and lessen the overall cost of the "tax" units.

Add 3 tyrant guard and deploy Swarmy near the malanthrope if your worried about an alpha strike against him. Don't bother with the pod, swarmy will move 19" - 30" for 1 CP (Opportunistic Advance) along with Hive Commander and still be able to charge. If you get onslaught off you can add another 1 - 6" to this and the advancements will average 5+ anyways for being in Kraken. Played 3 games with this setup so far and he averaged a 34" move and still charged when in a Kraken detachment. Yes, you leave the hive guard WAAAY behind but they are added to keep swarmy alive if you play on tables with no LoS blocking terrain.

If you bring a Tyrgon prime for the anti tank put him in Behemoth to help make the charge. Spend 2 CP's for a Broodlord and Genestealers in a Jormungandr patrol and you can obliterate a conscript screen so long as the stealers make combat. If you have issues getting a BL and genestealers around a Trygon then bring a unit of ravenors. They can spread out in a manner where your stealers and lord will fit very nicely. Also, the ravenors can soak overwatch and re-roll their charge in Behomoth so most likely they'll get in and prevent your stealers from dying to something like defensive gunners.

stealer,stealer,stealer,ravenor,stealer,stealer,ravenor,BL,ravenor,stealer,stealer,stealer
stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer,stealer

Nids have this great ability to bring like half their army 9" away from their opponent turn 1 and still pull this off with neurothropes and carnifexes in the back field enhanced with spore cysts or a malanthrope. I don't feel sorry about how ineffective alphas strike have been against me considering with how I'm used to being blown of the table.

Been thinking about this list and it seems about the best you can do if going brigade. And i believe the Kraken/Jormungandr combo is an absolutely awesome one. Here's my tweak on it with what I've got:

Kraken Brigade

Flyrant (-1 to hit, 2x Devourers, MRC, AG)
Flyrant (2x Devourers, MRC, AG)
Malanthrope

Lictor
Pyrovore
Pyrovore

19x Genestealers
19x Genestealers
30x Hormagaunts
3x Rippers
3x Rippers
3x Rippers

3x Solo Mucolid

Trygon (AG)
Biovore
Biovore

Jormungandr Patrol

Neurothrope

30x Devilgants

3x Raveners (RC, Deathspitter)

Compared to your list it gains about 30 bodies, and 1 MC, but loses out on Swarmies double move ability. CP is an even bet since you're using 2 CP to pheromone trail the GS while I'm using 1 and a Trygon. Most of the time I'm thinking I'll DS both Flyrants, pheromone trail one GS unit, Trygon one GS unit, Tunnel deploy Devilgants and Raveners, and then double advance the horms so everything is in the opponents opponent's face from the get go. 1 unit of rippers deploys on table, the other 2 in reserve to pop up on objectives.
