Hi all, first crack at a new nids list - largely based on the models I have but it doesn't seem too shabby. The other option would be to ditch one exocrine and a few gaunts to get a second tyrannofex (knights scare me). Let me know your thoughts!

Battalion Detachment - Kraken

Hive Tyrant with wings, monstrous rending claws, two devourers, toxin sacs and -1 to hit relic (Warlord) - 188 points

I think this looks pretty solid with a few notes.

The warriors get a big 'meh' without a good plan to use. If you use a trygon or the jorgumdur (not saying you have to switch necessarily) then you can get them close to bad touch enemies. However, a unit of 6 is a nice juicy target that won't do much. If you want to include them then a unit of 3 will be plenty. For gear always take twin-boneswords and deathspitters.

If you're scared of knights then give your hive tyrants heavy vennon cannons instead of devourers.

Thanks! I actually have a trygon so I could drop the gargoyles and just have one unit of 26 hormagaunts instead of 2 of 20 to free up the points for it... I love the model as well which is always a bonus. I guess I'll need some practice games to find out if that leaves me with enough little nids but definitely keen to give it a go!

This looks like a fun list, and it runs in a different direction than the one I've been using which I call "Big Monster Soup."

I have to agree with Buddha, by the way. Warriors with Rending Claws and Deathspitters clawing their way up a tunnel behind the Trygon can be very, very effective. Iv'e used them to my benefit quite a lot.

Gargoyles have been so bad for me, I really think they're the bottom tier of the codex in my opinion.

Exocrines are amazing, and you'll have so much fun with them. But, if you can, I'd suggest replacing the Tyrranofex with a Haruspex and if possible put him in a Drop pod!
