I got my hands on an old Tyranid Battleforce and was disappointed to find out it had no real alternate bits in the box. Coming from AM I was pretty disappointed that the customization was zilch. Anyone know any good sources for third party bits? I'd like to do some mod work on these guys.

What do you mean excactly? Can't you build a mawlock?

For example, I have 16 Hormagaunts in the box all with one head apiece and two claws apiece. Same for the Homragaunts, warriors, etc. There's nothing to help me make my army look unique compared to the next tyranid force.

I'm not certain about the Mawlock. There are no heavy or large models in the box. It's pure infantry

I'm comparing this to any AM box where I'd get alternate heads, some extra gear, pouches and whatnot. I'd like to at least do some headswaps, if not some arm changes. Don't want to greenstuff everything raw, thought. I'm not that great a sculptor.

The new tyranid box has the mawlock and stealers + lord.

This is a battleforce box. It doesn't contain any HQ or heavy support items.

I remember battleforce, I have few while back.

I use warriors head on hornagaunt body. Genestealer head don’t look very good on it, maybe it’s not my cup of tea.

The way I like to do is trim tongue off and green stuff the tongue to made it look more unique. Or perhaps grab Seraphom minion head for nice horn head?

That Seraphon idea I might have to steal for my Hormagauts to make them look a little more different from the Termagants.. when I get back to working on my bugs..

I put a gargoyle head on every 15-20 gaunts to mix it up a bit. Also I swap bodies between gaunts and gants. 15 hormagaunts on termagant bodies 15 on hgaunt bodies. 15 Termagants of tgant bodies 15 on hgaunt.

I actually find once you've got 100 gaunts on the table they look fine the way they are. The lack of options only really bothers me when I only have a handful on the table. I haven't seen too many kit bashes that I think actually improve the models.

I was going to do a bunch of custom bits for my third tyranid but ultimately realized I just wasnt going to get back in to 40k. So I have some sculpts lying around, in case you're interested. Nothing ever got finished for Termagants though.

They were for my army, so I was going for a 'Dragon bugs from out of spaaaaace' look.
