Ok, so real quick I put together this list. I'm not so sure about it, since I don't have a shield line to cover my Boyz.

HQ:
Big Mek, KFF x3-225
Warboss, attack squig -68
Warboss, attack squig -68

Troops:
19 Slugga Boyz, boss nob with PK -145
19 Slugga Boyz, boss nob with PK -145
19 Slugga Boyz, boss nob with PK -145
10 Shoota Boyz, boss nob, boy with rokkit launcha-84

Elites:
10 Tankbustas-170

Fast Attack:
2 Deffkoptas, bigbomm - 166
2 Deffkoptas, bigbomm - 166

Heavy Support:
15 Lootas - 255
15 Lootas - 255

Dedicated Transport:
Trukk - 82

Grand Total: 1974 points
The HQs could definitely use re-working, and I'd like something to protect my boyz while they move up the board. Might drop 5 Lootas in each unit. Please send feedback, thank you.

Decent list for fluffy, non-codex games. You seem to have a lot of overcosted units (trukk, lootas, tankbustas) and the big meks will have some trouble covering the boyz.

The question regarding the big meks protecting boyz...you spend a lot of points protecting 6 point models, and only saving 20% more of them than they save naturally (for every 6 wounds, plain boyz lose 5, kff-protected ones lose 4.) After 18 wounds, you end up with 8 boyz instead of 5. Are those kffs really worth 3 boyz?

The kffs help out much more with the lootas & tankbustas, since those models are so expensive. Still not great, as ork shooting units are vastly overcosted, but better than boyz.

I've sacked my koptas until they get fixed...same reason: way, way overcosted. I usually don't play maelstrom where they shine..if you do they are better.

If running choppa boyz, I always try to run 30's. After taking some hits they may still qualify for those 4 sweet attacks...that's where they shine.

Drop all the pks and the rokkit in the smaller boyz squad, just run your nobz with slugga & choppa, eventually big choppas if you have some spared points. Try to field 3x30 boyz instead of 4 smaller units.

Lootas in cover already have a 5++ save, use you meks to shield boyz and the trukk in turn 1.

2 big meks with KFFs should be enough, and also a single footslogging warboss should do his work, to mitigate morale a single boss in enough with 3-4 mobz. A weirdboy with da jump could be a great add, even a second one with warpath could be helpful.

You can add some other T5 units/models, like bikes or another trukk with bustas/nobz.

Some deepstriking kommandos could be nice as well.
