Maw Claws of Thrax come with a model that has rending claws or MRC (it doesn't replace them, it comes in addition to which is fine because they don't have an actual profile). But their description...
the dread beast that spearheaded the assault had a pair of symbiotic fang-lined pincers.

...sounds less like Rending Claws and more like the Grasping Talons on a Lictor.

I am thinking about modeling a Hive Tyrant with them mostly for funsies. I am thinking of using a fleshborer Hive as a base and trimming them up to be a lot thinner and adding lots of spikes to the inside. Anyone else get the same impression as me? Anyone else make their own Maw Claws?

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

Visually I've always thought them to look like the stylized Crushing Claws on the Carnifex from the 5th edition codex cover art but I have no idea how one would go about recreating them.
Spoiler:

A spare set of Haruspex claws would probably make a good basis for an easy conversion. They actually have 3 digits like most rending claws (though reversed, 2 "thumbs" and 1 "finger") and are slightly smaller than the Fleshborer Hive arms so will be more in scale with a Tyrant (plus, a lot of people have used said Fleshborer Hive arms to represent 4x Brainleech Devourers so more unique too).

Those claws on the carnifex look a lot like he strone crusher claws.

Except the exposed 2 digits become 2 claws instead of 1 and there is no mouth in the middle.

Nah, the Codex picture is a straight Old One Eye style Carnifex with Scything Talons and Crusher Claws. You can see the joints on the talons if you look closely.

The idea of using Lictor claws would give your model some interesting looks. I'm actually looking at getting one of the old "Super Warrior" Tyrant models, as I call them, and making it into a Swarmlord.. an even bigger warrior than a warrior prime.
