I would say D-Scythe Wraithguard -more expensive, more powerful and versatile- or Ghostswords Wraithblades -cheaper, better against hordes.

People usually go for the former, but the latter are nice if you need CC punch and are short on points.

Wraithguard are better used with the Webway Strike Stratagem. They can arrive just in range of their guns with no need for a transport.

Axe+Shield Wraithguard can be a really nice anvil unit with one or two psychic powers on them, but they are generally considered less competitive than the other choices.

If you are running a single squad, D-scythes are the best all-round weapon and worth the extra points. They are almost as good as Wraithcannons against large targets and far better against infantry. They also have the scariest overwatch in the game. Wave Serpent is almost mandatory, I like to keep them cheap and run them with triple Shuricannons. They are good for thinning hordes and can threaten larger targets if they are Doomed. They can fire on the move with no loss of effectiveness.

I stand between the darkness and the light. Between the candle and the star.
