So, I'm starting Age of Sigmar. I've dropped a significant sum of money for my Chaos stuff. So far I have some stuff, but I need to ask...
28 Chaos Warriors with shields assembled with musician, standard bearer, champion.
I'm gonna grab the little 3-pack today to make them an even 30. I like the idea of shields more so than additional attacks, I want to use these guys to bog down someone.
Chaos Lord assembled
(customized a bit with a helmet)
Chaos Sorcerer Lord on Manticore assembled
(figured the best way to protect my sorcerer was to put him on an angry monster)
Chaos War Shrine assembled.
It was the last one and I found it in a budget bin for $15.00.
Chosen and Chosen Command, assembled.
I just like these guys a lot.
10 Chaos Knights (still in box).
Glaives, or swords?
Chaos Chariot (still in box)
Gorebeast, or Horsies? Axe-bro, or flail-man?
(still in box)
(still in box)
(still in box, intended to use one as a Chaos Lord on Daemonic steed, kitbashed another)
Caveats: I am not looking to expand this army with specific Khorne or Nurgle units. I don't want to go grand alliance chaos, I want to stick with this for now and maybe, if anything, I'll go with Everchosen. I also don't feel like putting together hordes of marauders just yet, nor will I be purchasing them until after the holidays.
Do you think I could have fun with this? I haven't touched fantasy Warhammer since 1995.
You can have a lot of fun with those.
The only must takes I see missing are a regular sorcerer on horseback. He has a fantastic spell that you will want. (better then the one the sorcerer on the manticore has). Perhaps a conversion that you can put the sorcerer from the manticore also on horseback?
And big blobs of marauders are really good due to the discount you get these days. (200 pts for 40 is really ridiculous) and you will need a 4th battle line choice for 2500 pts games.
For the knights go glaives. you want the rend -1 and double wounds on the charge. Play them 2x 5. They need to be well timed and well positioned to make the most of them with glaives. But with swords I find them expensive with lack of punch on the charge.
The warriors, shrine and chosen make an awesome combo if you play them khorne flavoured (you can get re-roll to hit and to wound on the warriors) and if you remain slaves to darkness you can fill out your battle line requirements with knights also.
The chariot depends on what role you want it to have. I usually use the horses because they are faster and assist my fast pace list better but it lacks punch. So if you want punch, go for the beast.
