anyone notice the contents of the new paint set? It appears the shades, layers, bases have increased but the drys have decreased by a 3rd. Also, no mention of technicals, edges, or glazes but somehow they still claim 188 paints so either some are duplicates or they increased the number of layer and bases which I doubt.

New
96 Layer paints
23 Shade paints
49 Base paints
10 Dry paints
11 texture
189 total

I also calculate 189 instead of 188.

Old
35 Base paints
15 Shade paints
31 Dry paints
75 Layer paints
8 Edge paints
4 Glaze paints
11 Texture paints
10 Technical paints

*edited, thanks for pointing out the error Ghaz

Most of the dry paints were just super thick versions of layer and base colours anyway so could be a reason why they put less in, no point duplicating the same colour in the same box. Make sense as well from a packing perspective as there is less room to make a mistake by putting in two layer colours of the same name rather than one layer and one dry of the same name for example.

Regarding the technicals and glazes, I think they probably got left out due to the fact they are more for advanced painters rather than those who are just starting out. Those paints would probably end up being left and being rarely used so again, leave them out and you have more room for more base and layer colours which are going to be more useful to the average painter.

Just my thoughts on it....
