Can I fire pistols after advancing? We can fire it in combat so can I do it after advancing? I would assume it would similar to assault weapons as a pistol is easier to handle than a sub machine gun while running.

RAW you can't. Assault weapons are weird.

No, you cannot. Even RaI you cannot.

Agreed!

True. Pistols are no longer Assault Weapons as they have been in editions past. They are their own unique thing now.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

Eldar can due to Battle focus.

Yep, some units/armies can, but only if they have an explicit rule allowing it.

That's stupid. So I can shoot it in the middle of hth combat but not while running? That's dumb. I've played sports involving shooting for a number of years and shooting a pistol while running more accurately reflects the rule that assault weapons have.

No, what's dumb is that a grot the size of a 3 year old can somehow stop a multi-ton Leman Russ from firing it's guns at the Daemon Infested 70 meter tall Titan not 20 meters in front of it.

The real world has no effect on the rules. You're free to house rule whatever you want though.

40k is a game, not a simulation of the real world

How about the the fight phase is 'I pick a group, then you pick a group'

"Okay! I have finished punching up your guys! It's your turn"
"All right thanks!"

Or

How about a single Termagaunt (which is functionally made of paper mache), can stop a land raider from moving forward?
"can't we just run him over, I mean, seriously."
"Sorry brother, that would just be unfair to the poor guy."

Or!

The fact that transports are INCREDIBLY PICKY in who they let ride them.

Point is.
It's a game. When you start putting 'the real world' into it, it breaks.
