Ive seen some pictures of people Stormcast done as Statues come to life and they look amazing.

My issue is painting on the "cracks" of the stone.

I was wondering if anyone has tried crackle spray paint on minis before and how were the results?

My idea is base black, spray on crackle, then do dry brushing and glow details and should be good to go. I just worry on how it would look on a figure sprayed and rather not ruins them doing so.

Picture for reference: (Not mine but this is what I want to do just not painting on cracks as I cant seem to get it right)

I don't think it will work. Crackle paint has to be applied pretty thick to see an effect. I gues the cracks in the pic are just painted on.

Some of these cracks you could make with a hobby knife and a careful hand - not cut so deep into the mini that you create structural problems, but at least create a cosmetic slice into the surface.

Makes it possible to drybrush the edges of the crack, rather than needing to have a super steady hand for creating the contrast you want near the edges of the crack where there is going to be different "wear" to the rest of the surrounding surface.

Just an idea.

So your saying before basecoating/priming it and such use the knife and dig into parts and cut into the plastic to make them before hand, then drybrushing it etc will make the chips in it stand out as cracks?

Yes.

It does work; it's a nice way of creating battle damage on a mini for certain things. You might want to test it on something small first to see if you like the look of the cracks you can create

These are Proiteus' work, he lives in the p&m part. If you shoot him a messagen, he may be able to help you out with the cracks.
