It will likely melt your plastic models. I've seen it first had with a local player, used it on his 'Nid army. It looked like he put them in a microwave afterwards. This is because Testors uses a lot of acetone in their paints.

Then again I may be wrong. My experience was years ago and they could have changed their formula. Or the Gundam models use a different plastic formula?

Its entirely possible or you just got a bad can

iv not tried the metallic but i have tried the spray primer and it works fine (though its fiddlier than a fiddler crab when the ambient temperature is not exactly perfect.)

actually i take it back

I was thinking tamya which is close to the same thing

however looking it up

this guy used the flat black without issue so not sure.

I'm going to suggest your friend used too much or maybe sprayed them over another paint that wasn't fully cured causing a bad reaction.

From what I understand Testors makes both lacquer and enamel sprays. Lacquer thinner can theoretically melt plastic but you shouldn't be applying so much and so quickly that it actually creates a noticeable melting (it's actually part of what makes lacquers so tough, they're actually biting in to the surface). Tamiya sprays are also lacquers, as is Testors Dullcote which people have used for years to clear coat their models.
