Subject: br death guard+alpha legion against Eldar
so we played with ETC mission (6 obj, linebreaker first blood kill the warlord), first turn each generate 3 tactical obj's, relic, deployement hammer and anvil
I won the die roll and started
1st turn before game start i deployed my 25 slaanesh cultists over the relic
the rest of my army stay in the center of table with plagues screened by 10 cultists and 30 poxwalkers, Mortarion and warp time prince on the left just to press him and try to dislodge from obj 1 and 3.
move and advance anything to get in range of some smite, cast on pox n1 putrescent vitality, used the stratagems cloud of flies on plagues and the dead walk again on the pox n1, so if decide to hit cultists i get poxes back, alpha legion Dp's casted warptime on Morty then used 1 cp to cast smite on reapers killing 2 morty casted miasma on himself, thypus tried smite but failed and the other smite from sorcerer was blocked.Oblis drops near reapers and within 5" of alpha legion prince (so they rr 1's), 12 shots at str8 ap-2 i killed the 3 reapers still alve inside a ruin but exarch survived, i need 1st blood so i use another cp and let obly's fire again (a real overkill).i got 1st blood and obj 1 with warptimed Mortarion, cultists fired 50 shots at shadow specter but only 2 died.
In his 1st he moved on both hemlocks to get in range of their wepons and shadow specters hunting the cultists on relic, his psy phase was nothing to worry about, i blocked couple of smites coming from hemlocks but mortarion got 2 wounds from another smite and didn't pass a single disgusting resilient roll..., spectres fired 5d6 hits on cultists rolling "only 23"hits and killing about half squad got battle shock on them and lost whole squad (that's why i needed 1st blood).hemlocks fired at Morty stripping 1 more wound only, phoenix did the same and i got 2 more wounds thanks to miasma the missed some hits ,nothing relevant for the rest, His 1st turn passed with few damage for me beside 25 cultists dead, but now specters are in range of oblys and morty...
2nd turn keep advancing with my blob of infantry recast same powers as before keep my plagues safe and ready to strike next turn, Morty move close to specters 5 rangers and his seer on bike, throw 9 grenades on specters killing 2, smite was blocked by seer so i casted curse of the leaper on them thanks to T2 the 2 specters was killed so now morty is free to charge his seer and if i kill him i got 1pt for kill the general (18 attacks took care of xeno ) and another for maelstrom obj, Dp moved near an obj i must control trying to dislodge the 3 vypers but smite failed and charge was short by 1 inch and half...so didn't get points from it....1 hemlock died by smites from thypus and Dg Dp+charge, obly's cancelled a ranger squad (im trying to wipe out him leaving only flyers on the board)
He keep shooting at morty but he is short of firepower and table, next turn anything will finish with a big charge of dp's morty and plagues, but of course i planned bad and Morty died under the fire of phoenix falcon and hemlock doh..... , btw is too late for him i control most of the board and im far ahead with maelstrom.
3rd turn was quick he got some lucky maelstrom so made some points but to do that he must move closer to me so i got 3 charges with both my Dp's thypus and plagues, blades+veteran of long war wreak havocs on flyers he was left with 1 rangers squads 1 phoenix and the half strenght falcon (was unlucky with oblys this turn they was over 6" inches from Dp so no rr for them). if i could kill the falcon and 5 ranges i wipped him out...
I like the list but....Morty always disappoint me, he kill anything he touch but too much heavy fire on tables nowadays, not sure if worth the pain, if i didn't start and kill all the reapers 1st turn without miasma active i could have him killed 1st turn....470pts going to be killed in 1-2 turns well.... at least here in Italy im not sure if worth, maybe 3-4 bloated drones? thanks for reading.
PROS: this edition is better than 7th (but hard it can be worse), turns are smooth and fast
CONS: too much dices, too much firepower, still big unbalanced, who start 1st have some important advantages
I m not sure this edition can really be considered good, nothing compared to 4th or 5th, imho.
