Subject: [2000] - Khorne - The Blood Covenant

Auspicious Aspiring Champion of Chaos

So I've been messing around with a couple Khorne lists lately, and I think I've found one that sounds like a lot of fun:
Leaders
Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage *General* Devastating Blow, The Crimson Crown
Mighty Lord of Khorne
Slaughterpriest Killing Frenzy
Slaughterpriest w/ Hackblade and Wrath-hammer Killing Frenzy
Bloodsecrator Banner of Rage
Battleline
Bloodletters x20 w/ champion, banner, icon, and musician
Bloodreavers x20 w/ Meatripper Axes, champion, banner, musician
Blood Warriors x5 w/ Twin Goreaxes, champion, banner, Goreglaive (still waiting on an FAQ to see if you can use one of these at 5 or if you need 10)
Behemeths
Slaughterbrute of Khorne bound to the Mighty Lord
Other
Mighty Skullcrushers x6 w/ Bloodglaives, champion, banner, musician
Wrathmongers
Battalions
Gore Pilgrims
It was tough to decide whether to make the Mighty Lord or the 'Thirster the general, but in the end, I like the Daemon Command Traits better. He only has two Daemon units to buff with his command ability (Skullcrushers and Bloodletters), but either of those units will be doing a lot more damage than any of the Mortal units the Mighty Lord would be buffing. I may take Resanguination on one of the Slaughterpriests instead of Killing Frenzy, but it may be better to have the redundancy for when one of them is inevitably sniped out. My heavy hitters will obviously be the 'Thirster, the 'Letters, and the Skullcrushers, and I will need to keep them in range of the 'Secrator, whose aura will actually be 30" with that battalion, so shouldn't be too hard. The tough part will be keeping the 'Secrator close enough that his banner can give rerolls of 1's to-hit. Having the Wrathmongers nearby will give an extra +1 attack, so with the Portal of Skulls, they'll get +2 in addition to any triggered by the Crimson Crown, and with the 'Letters doing mortal wounds on 5+, that should end up generating a ton of damage!
So any thoughts or suggestions?

You cannot bind slaghterbrute to the might lord of khorne as he needs a SLAVES TO DARKNESS HERO not KHORNE hero

The updated Slaughterbrute of Khorne warscrolls replaces Slave the Darkness Hero with Khorne Mortal Hero and adds the Khorne keyword. If you haven't seen it yet, it's available in the app.

The issue is the bloodletters getting there.
They get their bonus at 20 guys, so if you loose one, you loose the bonus. They are also better supported by Skulltaker.
In my experience I take khorne deamons as more of a distraction then the focus of the list. Throw a blob of 30 at the enemy and see what sticks, while the staying power/killing power really seems to come from Mortals more

Other than being significantly cheaper, what is the benefit of using Skulltaker instead of a Bloodthirster? He doesn't have any sort of direct buff for Bloodletters, doesn't have a command ability, has a lower damage output, and can't take command abilities or artifacts. A 'Thirster also has the benefit of being another big, scary model for the enemy to worry about to take fire off of the rest of the army.
However, I would like to find a way to squeeze another 10 'Letters into the army, though. A group of 30 only cost 50 points more than 20. Problem is finding 50 points to drop. The Wrathmongers are probably the most expendable unit right now since they give enemy models the same +1 attack they give to friendly models. If I drop them and max out the Bloodletters, that would leave me with 130 points. Maybe I could go ahead and grab Skulltaker and just have 30 points dangling?

Never take units of 20 bloodletters. 10 or 30 only, and really you only want 10 to fill leftover points or battleline at that.
You have Gore Pilgrims + Wrathmongers + Bloodthirster which is a strong basis for any Khorne army. Outside of tournaments you can pretty much throw whatever you want in after that and do well.

That's kind of my feeling, too. I need to free up 50 points to bump the Bloodletters to 30. The least "essential" unit on my list would either be the Wrathmongers (but I like that extra attack) or the Mighty Lord. If I drop the Mighty Lord, I could bind the Slaughterbrute to one of the Slaughterpriests, I guess, but having that Axe around as a deterrent is really handy.

Okay, I think I may have found a way to squeeze in some more Bloodletters. I drop the Skullcrushers to 3 and add in an Exalted Deathbringer to fill in the extra points. They're still pretty nasty, especially is they're close to the general. So here's what it looks like now:
Leaders
Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage *General* Devastating Blow, The Crimson Crown
Mighty Lord of Khorne
Slaughterpriest Killing Frenzy
Slaughterpriest w/ Hackblade and Wrath-hammer Killing Frenzy
Bloodsecrator Banner of Rage
Exalted Deathbringer
Battleline
Bloodletters x30 w/ champion, banner, icon, and musician
Bloodreavers x20 w/ Meatripper Axes, champion, banner, musician
Blood Warriors x5 w/ Twin Goreaxes, champion, banner, Goreglaive (still waiting on an FAQ to see if you can use one of these at 5 or if you need 10)
Behemeths
Slaughterbrute of Khorne bound to the Mighty Lord
Other

Wrathmongers
Battalions

Tbh I would take a second blood sector because if I was playing you the first thing I would do is toss spells and range to kill the sector

Well, we use lots of terrain at my FLGS, so it's really not that hard for me. A single Ophidian Archway or Numinous Occulum can hide a Bloodsecrator pretty easily, and the Archway even give a cover bonus just for being close to it.
