Hi guys, I'm hoping you guys can give me some feedback on the list I'm planning on running now that the 8th ed codex has dropped.

Battalion Detachment - 3 CP

HQ

Chief Librarian Mephiston: Wings of Sanguinious, Unleash Rage, Shield of Sanguinious

Librarian: Bolt pistol, Force axe, Jump Pack, Quickening, Unleash Rage - Replace Jump Pack with Angel's Wing

Intercessor Squad: Auxiliary grenade launcher, Bolt rifle, 4x Intercessor, Intercessor Sergeant: Chainsword

Scout Squad: 4x Scout, Combat knife, Scout Sergeant: Bolt pistol, Power sword

Fast Attack

Inceptor Squad [10 PL, 135pts]: 2x Inceptor, Inceptor Sergeant: 2x Assault bolter

Vanguard Detachment - 1CP

HQ

The Sanguinor

Elites

Death Company: Jump Pack, 10x Death Company Marine, 2x Thunder hammer, 8x Boltgun, 2x Power sword, 6x Chainsword

Sanguinary Guard: 8x Sanguinary Guard, 8x Angelus boltgun, 8x Death mask, 2x Power fist, 6x Encarmine sword

Sanguinary Guard Ancient: Angelus boltgun, Death mask, Power fist - Banner of Sacrifice - 1 CP

Spearhead Detachment - 1CP

HQ

Lemartes

Heavy Support

Devastator Squad: Armorium Cherub, 4x Space Marine, 2x Lascannon, 2x Boltgun, Space Marine Sergeant: Boltgun

Devastator Squad: Armorium Cherub, 4x Space Marine, 2x Lascannon, 2x Boltgun, Space Marine Sergeant: Boltgun

Hellblaster Squad: 4x Hellblaster, Plasma incinerator, Hellblaster Sergeant: Bolt pistol

Total 1979 points and 7 CP

I've still got 20 points spare that I'm not sure where to spend.. Maybe another DC or 2 Heavy Bolters on the Dev squads. The goal for the army is to try and tie up as much of my opponents force as quickly as possible, not necessarily kill the unit but either tie them up or force them to retreat.

- Sang guard, drop in with the ancient and sanguinor, use the 3D6 charge stratagem. Sanguinor gives them +1 attack and re-rolling hits, banner gives them fnp and re-rolling wounds.

- Death Company use the move + advance before my turn to pull off a 25-30" first turn move, lemartes deepstrikes in near them to give them re-rolling charge and hits.

- Librarian uses the relic jump pack that stops overwatch, casts quickening to give +3" charge and +D3 attacks. Deepstrikes in, charges and ties something up.

- Mephiston uses wings on himself to get a 19" move and hopefully get close enough to charge something.

- Scouts infiltrate in near a unit then move to get a decent charge off.

- inceptors, drop in for support shoot chaff and try and make a 9" charge maybe using a re-roll if needed and once in combat they can then drop out and fire again.

- All backed up back the hellblasters and devastator bunker with the intercessor squads walking around for objectives and also supporting with their 30" bolters.

I have devised a similar list that actually a double battalion list, so I definitely approve of the concept.

I will say that with 10 DC, you might want Astorath over Lemartes. Maybe. Plus Astorath can buff your other units.

I'm on a same boat as you guys on the feeling how to make a competitive list. Below is a list that I asked for cc on another forum. I don't have any primaris and I like the possibility to have 1-2 moving metal boxes for mobile cover/screening. Very similar though, like you guys can see. I see the benefit for an army being full infantry, even no dreadnoughts, weakens the possible enemy anti-armour. Scouts vs. intercessors hit as hard and both can have the power weapon upgrade.. Quite debatable which is more point effective 3+ save & 2W or being able to deploy in the noman's land for that early objective and let the jump packers do the lifting. Scouts are just so temptingly cheap for the amount of attacks they do.

I can see how I would play your list, so yes. thumbs up. Let us know how your test games go. I'll have a test game before christmas against death guard as well.

Spoiler:

Batallion (+3 CP)

7man sanguinary guard - 5x encarmine sword & angelus boltgun - 2x power fist & inferno pistol
Sanguinary ancient - encarmine sword & angelus boltgun - <Standard of Sacrifice>

Spearhead (+1 CP)

Librarian dreadnought - storm bolter - {Warlord: Artisan of War} - (Wings of Sanguinius - Quickening)

5man devastator squad - 2x lascannon - grav cannon with grav-amp - armorium cherub

Funny thing is I would say you hacked my phone because I have almost the exact list aside from some changes with the HQs. I feel like this is the way to go with blood angels. Bodies and lots of them . I feel like blood angels are quantity over quality in terms of what to bring in units. I personally run my DC with all chainswords and 2 hammers.power swords are amazing but I prefer more attacks.

Overall I love the list and please do post a battle report because I won’t be able to play for sometime. Cheers!

Cheers for the advice guys! Astorath might be a good shout actually, I'll try and get games in with both. I should hopefully get some games in against Guard, marines and Dark Angels just after Christmas so I'll report back then!

In the mean time any other advice is appreciated!

Astorath also has 2+ armor, which makes him much better against snipers, or any other AP 0 nonsense.

Yeah true, I just like the re-rolling charges that lemartes gives in case of emergency
