Ok,
I actually posted this list on another forum few days back, but didn't get much feedback, so I'll try here.

These models are already on the table, but I have several other models for substituting.

Plan is to have multiple T1-2 cc threats for the enemy to choose from. Devastators have one ablative and those grav cannons are for possible deepstrike threats for the gunline. Depending on the opponent I will deploy the DC captain in the gunline and teleport it with the stratagem somewhere else later in the game or just tag it along with the SG.

I've had good experience with the librarian dreadnought with the +1 dam WT, so I'll probably stick to that, even though the DC captain as WT could give the SG rerolls to hit. Somehow the Visions of Sanguinius and aggressive playstyle is better than the heroic bearing WT on the DC capt?, from which the SG would get fearless. These are easy list tailoring in a friendly environment, but maybe the Visions is universally better, not that 7man unit and 9 leadership is that bad with morale.

Ask if you need more in-depth tactical planning, but it's always a bit case sensitive. One thing I was thinking if I should swap plasma cannons into both devastator squads. Those are great with the cherub. And would give me two power sword to give to the DC, hmm..

So updating some pinpoint questions,

Libby or DC capt as the warlord?

are the CC elements enough killy and synergy with BA?

Should I drop the predator for another 2x ML/1x plasma dev squad and beef up the DC even more?

Other Suggestions? / Overall feel?

Cheers,

I would recommed making the Sanguinary Ancient your warlord, to provide the SG with re-rolls to hit - they really need it.

Also your dev-teams will suffer gravely from small dakka, as they have no extra wounds(models).

Other than that it seems solid, lots of threats both in shooting and cc, will try a similar list to this one in the future!

Drop the 2 grav cannons from the devs, drop the pred, get 2 razorbacks with twin assault cannon and twin lascannon. Two razorbacks, twice the wounds of a pred (almost), lose one, you still have one left. If you lose the pred, you lose your assault cannon and the lascannons.

So if I swap the predator for third devastator squad with 2x missile launcher and drop the grav cannons from the two dev squads I will get a twin assault cannon razorback.

Summarum:

- 2x grav cannon
- predator autocannon

+ 2x missile launcher
+ twin assault cannon
+ 1 more unit for the enemy to shoot at

Not super big difference, but yeah. Maybe a bit more competitive. Although I like predator autocannon's long range and multiple shots when shooting at 2 wound infantry.

If I'd change the dev composition like:
5man dev + plasma cannon + lascannon
5man dev + plasma cannon + lascannon
5man dev + 2x missile launcher

I'd get points for two more power swords for the death company.

In the gunline there would be also two razorbacks with a twin las and one with twin asscan.

Recommend changes?

Anything else?

From the tactical perspective I really can't see any other point efficient way to kit them other than double plasma.

Ok,
I'm having a test game against Death Guard. If people show's interest I'll give you batrep with pictures from the game.

In this edition the DG has been a very strong force and in the last game I had against them I had a stormraven who shot 100 bullets a at PM squad killing only two. Man they are disgustingly resilient. The list are published and I'm playing against a friend during the holidays. Got any suggestions what should I try to pull/any shenagians you would like me to see try.

We are playing a random chapter approved mission.

Here's the lists. I ttweaked mine a bit, so we can have a full wysiwyg/painted armies fighting. Except cultists.. Those models are mine and in our meta, playing non-painted cultists

Anyway, here you go:

Death Guard 2000 points - 5 CP (-3 from relics)

Spoiler:

Daemon prince with wings > 2x pair of malefic talons > suppurating plate > arch-contaminator (miasma of pestilence)
Chaos lord > plasma pistol > balesword
Malignant plaguecaster (putrescent vitality & curse of leper)
Typhus (putrescent vitality, blades of putrefaction, & curse of leper)

20x cultists 18x autogun 2x heavy stubber
17x poxwalkers
7x Plague marines > 1x flail > 1x spewer > 1x mace & axe > 2x axe & knife > 1x dual knife > PF, plaguesword on champion
7x Plague marines > 2x plasma gun > plasma gun, plaguesword & PF on champion
7x Plague marines > 2x plasma gun > plasma gun, plaguesword & PF on champion

Foetid bloat-drone > 2x plaguespitter > plague probe
Foetid bloat-drone > 2x plaguespitter > plague probe
Foetid bloat-drone > 2x plaguespitter > plague probe

Biologus putrifier > plaguebringer
Tallyman
Foul blightspawn

Chaos rhino > combi-bolter

I don't want to be pessimistic, but I'm already frightnened about the resilience of the bloat-drones and plague marines. My single HQ will struggle greatly against the daemon prince even if I pull the charge. One thing I know, I will try to avoid dealing the Typhus, poxwalkers, cultists screen and concentrate on everything else. Devastators go for the lone rhino.. dunno if it's even wise to try to drop the drones, they are mean.. Well, when I know what mission we will play I'll know better.

If you have a clear plan how you would overwhelm that list with mine, please share your ideas and I'll try to pull that out when the match is on. I'm getting a new objective for my digital camera that I'm tempted to try if you want a report.

Cheers,
I finished painting the BA army today, man I'm happy.. even though I ditched a cc scout squad and swapped it for snipers because they were painted, had to drop armorium cherub's from the devastators etc.. to balance the points..
