Did the new Dark Angel codex finally say how they responded to Primaris? Out of curiosity, what was their response?

I don’t have the codex yet but the video reviews I have watched said Rowboat said he had some Primaris Marines for them and they excepted . I hope there is more to it than that that’s pretty lame.

They pretty much put them to work but keep them in the dark. They know eventually they'll have to start letting them in the whole story, but are playing it by ear at this point.

EDIT: Although they briefly considered shooting Rowboat's fleet to pieces when he first showed up.

Yes, they weren't exactly fine with it. They had to accept them from Bobby G, but they are used as fresh meat whenever possible and never let them know anything about the truth of the chapter. The only exception to this are the Primaris librarians who are immediately accepted into the Deathwing, but that's because it is indeed hard to keep secrets away from Librarians.

They are pretty much treating them at arms length at the moment, barely more than cannon fodder.

What are the quotes for this? I've not got the codex, interested in what it says.

The info is pretty much scattered around the Dex. Most of it is in the timeline section. I don't think anyone is going to try and write it all up and post it on here though.

Thanks, I was hoping to hear along these lines as it would mean it wouldn't be too odd for them to be in my 5th company. It sounds like them being in a lower company wouldn't be a big deal.

They seem to be accepted in the rank and file, but there's only one primaris lieutenant (the named one). None have been admitted to the first company or to the inner circle. Pure Primaris companies are mentioned as well, but I'm guessing they are at arm's length right now

Why there are Primaris Masters then? Certainly Masters are part of the inner circle?

Perhaps the primaris masters are enhanced normal marines. Remember, you can be upgraded.

This use to be the case. But the section on masters has a line about losses since the founding of the primaris that says some masters are no longer members of the Inner Circle. I just looked through the list and the only one that has inner circle in the Master in terminator armor which makes sense as they would be part of the deathwing.

Rules vs. Fluff. I suspect it has a lot to do with the fact that there is no slot for a company commander that isn't part of the circle and GW doesn't want to leave pure primaris companies out in the cold. It's not the first time what you can put on the table didn't match the existing fluff. I suspect we'll see primaris inner circle int he next time jump, but this is what the codex is stating.

The codex makes a good argument for it. Normal Dark Angel recruits are carefully indoctrinated in successive levels of stories, myths and indoctrination until they are ready for the truth. None of that has been done to the Primaris so the chance of a leak from one of them would be much higher. The Dark Angels have bad experiences trusting outsiders.

But they've been able to make their own primaris for a century now...

So one thing to keep in mind is that Guilliman used the Primaris hard before he "gave" them back to their respective home Chapters. During that time those Primaris would have needed leaders, thus Masters that are not part of the Inner Circle. Same with Librarians, Chaplains, etc. They fought an entire Crusade before the survivors arrived at the Rock.

I was asked what the codex said and I reported. If you have a problem with GW's plotline you'll have to take it up with them.
