There are two Warhammer 40,000 fan films that are going to be released soon that look pretty damn awesome. They are The Lord Inquisitor and the Death of Hope. While both movies look pretty cool, I was wondering which one looks better to you.

I've never even heard of Death Of Hope so I'm defaulting to Inquisitor.

I do think the Inquisitor project is more clever - using a game engine to render stuff, and then film that (more or less). Pretty smart.
PS: I'd imagine both could suffer with voice acting (the weakest part of the Inquisitor preview video).

Or is this fan fiction stuff (like the Helsreach linked stuff)?

Are they still making Lord Inquisitor? I thought all we were getting was a prologue and hope?

Just fanfic, so don't expect too much in the way of quality. Still, for fan fiction I must say that the Inquisitor looks pretty neat. Also, I found Helsreach to be quite enjoyable. But then again, Ultramarines may have lowered the bar for 40k fan fic movies so low that anything else seems good simply by comparison

Helsreach credits Source Filmaker and appears to credit the audiobook for its voice work. Imo it's veeerry clever. Production-wise using stylization and smart editing to get past budget issues, and mixing live action performances with animaiton. Worth a look for academic purposes at the very least.
Huge props to the creator/s.

I voted neither. If imperium or chaos are the protagonists I have zero interest in a 40k movie.

Saying you loved ultramarines is like saying you loved the prequels, punishable by summery execution.

Lord Inquisitor myself but Helsreach is also fantastic.
Honestly if GW was smart they would use a bit of this extra money they're raking in from 8th, hire the Lord Inquisitor guy and the Helsreach guy and tell them to go to town making stuff.
I mean GW has a huge audio library, the Helsreach formula would be easy to do for a lot of their audio drama's and would be an excellent advertising tool.
The guy doing Lord Inquisitor just needs to be given unlimited funds and a team and told to make a movie. Seriously the couple minutes we have seen of that so far more coherent, provides a better feeling for the 40K universe, and is just plain more entertaining than *any* video production/movie that is based in the 40K universe that has come before it.

Helsreach is good, but tis not one of the options for this question. After reading what you said, you might wanna hold off until the full trailer comes out for Death of Hope :O
He just dropped the second teaser
