Has anyone used Acrylic colored pencils? If so what brand? I am thinking of trying them for edge highlighting. I would imagine you would need to matt seal the model right after. Just curious as on people experiences and if they have done it, what pencils are best to get?

Iv tried it but i used whatever colors i had laying around.

so not sure the brand

in the end it ended up scratching too much of the underlying paint even through varnish.

i think pastel sticks might work a little better if its soft.

with the added benefit of being able to blend it in with a soft brush.

I have not heard of "acrylic pencils", do you mean watercolour pencils?

Watercolour pencils are not uncommon in the historic modelling scene. Here's a vid of someone using them to weather a Spitfire....

Maybe that its. I heard "Acrylic pencils" on the Forge the Narrative podcast for edge highlighting black armor. Perhaps the watercolor pencils are what they meant.

It could work, though you might be better off with a paint pen,

I did look into these when creating INSTAR, but it was too difficult to get in all the nooks and crannys, though the fine tip for highlighting was phenomenal, it's less likely to scratch paint off as well being a softer tip.

The brand was Pebeo and it was called Artist 4 Marker. It's oil based rather than acrylic but gives good results

When i did color pencils though its much easier to use the sides rather than the tip so a fine tip actually wasnt as useful.

though i was doing it for vehicles instead of doods.
