Subject: Crackeledd paint - as texture on model?

Is there a way to apply crakeled paint on a model as texture? I am currently painting nids. I do not think it belongs there. (On the plates maiby?) But could it be aplied to grey knights or chaos models?
Perhaps not gw's texture paint, but a 3rd partys brand?

I've seen it used on Death Guard vehicles with great effect.
It comes down to how big / small you want the cracks and what is suitable for the model. I can't imagine it on Grey Knights myself. Chaos has potential for deformed skin / armour. You would mostly be looking at vehicles or mostly flat surfaces for its use IMO. The biggest problem you will run into using crackle paint is that it adds a not insignificant layer of thickness which could be difficult to blend in with the rest of the model.

It'll work fine.
Probably best to experiment on different model surfaces and area sizes, with different water/soap/crackle paint ratios as well as on top of different gloss/satin undercoats.
Nid models have plenty of spare bits for you to test on.

I could see some being used on necrons for rust/degradation effects.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I used it on two Wrack Venoms for the Dark Eldar army to represent the wraithbone being corrupted by the Dark Eldar use. There are more pics in my gallery. Automatically Appended Next Post: I would recommend painting a glowing effect or whatever you want to show underneath the cracked paint so it doesn't just show primer.

For big spaced out cracks it has to be applied thick. You'll have to play with the thickness for your personal preference. I goop it on more than paint it on.

Iv seen it on tree type models to show crackling bark. you have to goop it on think though iirc. alternatively i hear it works better on a gloss finish.

Mine is GW crack paint. I painted over it once it dried. Automatically Appended Next Post: Mine is GW crack paint. I painted over it once it dried.

Go to a reputable art store, buy crackle medium, mix whatever colour you want in with the medium, paint it on your miniature.
