There's no doubt in my mind that mobbing up is going to be a big deal, and a vital part of the ork mechanic...

but what it has always done in the past was to force ork players to use their infantry horde as one single blob absorbing any units that got weakened, and it made it very risky for small units to wander about on their own...

But Mob up can also be used to create super units and I wonder what is your thinking behind the unit model numbers?

Why not try to form a 40 stormboy mob. Zagstruk lets you run those small stormboy mobz with safety I wondered why all of yours were 20.

I admit that 10 man (11 W) units of T4 6+ orks got blown off the table easily, even with painboyz and KFF. However I would make the list assuming that some of the time you get first turn and on the first turn you could combine two units immediately.

So with Stormboyz and similarly with Kommandos: if you want to find out what Mob Up could do, why not have 3 units of different sizes, one of which would be maxed, and the others are supporting units on the flanks, with an aim to, ultimately, absorb back into the center all of your armies infantry strength.

With the potential speed of ork units, and the way that massive charges can work in favour of our massive units, it may be time to attempt the maximum cruelty.

Ultimately I think that strategy will only be used occasionally and requires too many moving parts to be reliable for the whole game even with a wad of CP; but all ork players will be using the Mob Up to protect boy units as they get focused and allow for more redundancy.

In fact this mob up specifically states the units have to be the same, whereas in the past mob up always allowed different units to swirl together into Da Greater Waaagh.

Obvious extension to that thinking would be fielding 15,10 and 10 of tankbustas. Trying to get that big wad of rokkits and bring the Dakka Dakka, or doing the same with Burnas or maybe mega nobz.

3 units of 10 boyz feel like too many small units, since you can only mob once per turn. I'd lean towards a distribution more like 2x30, 2x20, 2x10, and probably take more in the way of shoota boyz since not all units in the horde will get to engage at the front lines.

Don't imagine that you're going to mob 3 40 man slugga units on turns 1, 2 and 3, and Da Jump them into the enemy because that just won't happen.

But, yeah if you're going to keep your list 99% the same the only missed opportunity is trying to make those stormboyz into something huge.

Could do 2 of 30 2 of 10 on the stormboyz? Wasn’t necessarily thinking of trying to mob up every unit of 30 and 10 in the Boyz just leaving myself options and keep the opponent on the back foot worrying about it.

I'd include a painboy instead of the 3rd min unit of kommandos. With that many bodies the dok can give his aura to 90 boyz/stormboyz and the psykers as well. If you go second you may save a few stormboyz thanks to him, they'll be the priority target for the opponent.

I wouldn't cut the stormboyz to increase the number of boyz though. 60 stormboyz are scary and they're going to soak all the anti infantry in turn 1 and 2 along with the jumped boyz. So 3 min units of boyz should merge safely by using the stratagem. I don't think the opponent wants to shoot them when he has to deal with 40 deepstriking boyz and 60 stormboyz. I think you'll probably get the chance to mob up all 6 units of boyz, especially if you go first.

If you want to play the green tide style in a competitive meta go with a pure one: just boyz, stormboyz, kommandos, artillery and characters. There's no room for tankbustas, unless you bring the garg squiggoth.

yeah it's basically a copy of what my ideal 2000pt competitive 8th list looks like, I just don't own quite as many stormboyz, have a few more kommandos, use a waaagh banner and out of necessity field a mix of shoota boys.

I prefer big shootas in units of 5 kommandos because I sometimes set them up in the back, and I like having some big shootas in auxiliary boy units when possible. A little bit of scattered fire never hurt anyone, except an enemy or two.

But I think you're basically playing an ork army near or at as strong as it can get right now and looking down the barrel of 176 combined slugga/choppa orks, with bigger orks leading em, is a pretty scary prospect. Just don't forget to fire those sluggas lads.

I am slightly worried about moving this many models in a tournament setting tbh, I may mount up in battle wagons and do the beat I can with that kind of list, it will be less competitive but less stressful I think...

I understand your concern, unless you really love move tons of models the green tide is absolutely stressful, especially when there are time limitations.

The T8 spam is probably my favorite list at the moment with orks, basically 2-3 BWs, a gorkanaut, 0-1 trukks, 0-3 buggies, biker characters, artillery and the units embarked in transports. Not even remotely competitive as the green tide in a tournament though.

The 4 units of 10 boys go in 2 of the battlewagons and the 2 units of 19 Shootas and the 2 wierdboyz go in the other 2. Would like more artillery and some tankbustas but dunno what to cut I think all the extra cp’s will be helpfull

Why embarking weirdboyz? They don't need to jump stuff. A warboss with the killchoppa costs exactly like a weirdboy but he's a great add in a mechanized list, still very punchy and having two bosses may help with morale. A boss with pk is quite killy as well, and just 68 points.

I'd also cut the second weirdboy to add more pks and/or artillery. But if you really want more CPs keep the 2x Battallions, I just think a battallion + another detachment grants more flexibility in exchange of giving up 2 CPs.

Just smite tbh but I like the warboss suggestions.
It’s a brigade not 2 battalions btw so 12 command pts instead of 7... seemed worth it to me as it’s all stuff I like and want to run in a list.

I didn't noticed it was a brigade. You just need 3 HQs then But an embakarked weirdboy with warpath and smite could be handy for sure.

Weight the base of your plastic models. With a heavy base you can just sling them around, and if you give them a top coat of some kind you can usually get away with being pretty aggressive about moving forward....
There's no stress to a green tide strategy because you don't have to spend time "thinkin about what to do" or "lookin at the board". You just go forward. March on crush all resistance. When guys die you just absorb it as quickly as possible and keep moving forward and ultimately you're only rolling dice for a couple of circumstances per turn, but in big batches. Everyone tosses around the old adage that a lot of models creates a time constraint, but that's only when you limit yourself. If you assemble a plastic army for tournament play you can just pour them onto the table out of a box and with a heavy base half of them will stand up.

In fact there is an argument to be made regarding the aerodynamics, durability and roll characteristics about the humble shoota boy which I think many overlook when reaching for their choppas. Shoota's also fit together into a tighter space....

Most of the time it will be the person with the pretty eldar tank army slowing down the game, once they see the ferocious intent and speedy motion of the horde - and you won't actually spend the whole game moving 200+ models
It'll be an edition ripe for hordes so either accept the new meta or get crushed beneath it, cause the next time you're on the table, across from a horde army movin fast, and you're taking a minute to reposition your battlewagons ask yourself this: are you really debating "the best" move, or are you just trying to slow things down cause you're scared, scared of the tide!

Ok so had my first test game and played daemons last night, and had a decent win, he conceded turn 4. (Also only my third game this edition)
there was a blood thirster, keeper of secrets, epidemics, 30 plague bearers, 3 plague drones, 3 bloodcrushers, 5 seekers, 2 units 10 horrors, 2 skullcannons, 3 flamers of tzeentch. I think that was it.
We played ascension with dawn of war deployment.
Highlights were the kmks killing the kos first turn! And zhadsnark killing the blood thirster in an awesome charge. Low points were a Battlewagon exploding in the middle of loads of both of our units and it killing loads of my stuff and barely any of his, disgusting resilience is a disgusting rule.

I was happy with the lost not just because I won but I didn’t really notice any weak links, everything was decent even the battlewagons were great for eating overwatch for the Boyz, would love even more kmks or even a pain boy maybe but I wouldn’t know where to shave off pts.
