Hi recently restarted working on models and nearing finish. Now before i paint i would like to test them at my local store in battle and ask advice locally for painting methods plus i need to buy paint. but to get them there i have a dilemma should i use store bought foam cases or make my own, and should my models be upright or on their sides. My reason for this is I've heard the store bought are over priced but my mother doesn't know if i will have time to make my own with school and job. For the other I've seen the default for most is laying down but the Tyranid specific ones are standing up which confuses me?
those are some examples i found granted they aren't all nids.

I use Gameplus pluck foam tray. They are 10.00 each regardless of thickness and the pluck foam means I can plan and maximize the models I fit. Game Plus bags are also not the most expensive and have a lot of real good pouches on them.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I put magnets in the bases of my models and sheet metal on the bottom of my storage trays.
All the models stay in place during transport.

Unpainted they will be fine placed into a strong box packed in tightly against each other, unless you're planning on monster trucking/pogoing there.
I tend to move mine around in big underbed plastic storage boxes.
Pack them neatly and use some thin foam or kitchen towel between layers of models.

How many inches are the GW plastic suitcases? I need some new foam for mine. Automatically Appended Next Post: Lance845 wrote:I use Gameplus pluck foam tray. I think I might just end up using movement trays with magnets on the bottom in metal trays to transport the gaunts/genestealers. A lot easier than magnets under every model, and makes it faster to have deepstrikers ready to deploy. Everything else is big and gribbly enough that a foam lined box will do fine unless I’m taking them on public transportation or some other awful situation.

To be honest I have a pair of trays for mine, the bigger gribbles go into one, metal ones first, then the plastics, and the smaller ones sort of get heaped into the other - to date nothing has broken or chipped

I superglue/greenstuff magnets to bases, then keep models in biscuit tins. You can fit a lot of models in a biscuit tin!
