Hey everyone! I'm planning a new project involving some kinda experimental Tau designs, some that look more human in origin... (Farsight tau surviving on the edge of imperial space, adapting human tech into their own, that kinda shtick.)

So far I've done some infantry conversions using Wargames Factory shock troops to make some almost Ad-Mech looking fire warriors, and a lot of Earth caste guys (which I've admittedly had a lot more fun with than the soldiers) made using various parts-- combining pathfinders and Maelstrom's Edge Broken, a Kharadron fella combined with the shirtless beefy Tau from Wargame Exclusive, that old Battle of Macragge pilot, some other assorted humany bits... (I promise I'll do pics eventually, but I don't have my models currently!) I'm currently working on some Battlesuit conversions using an old Lost Planet Hardballer toy and a Landman Rodi model from Gundam IBO. This is all just to hopefully give some impression of the different look I'm aiming for. I guess it could be considered a kinda 80s mecha inspired look for my tech, some more bulbous, round shapes coexisting with the Tau's geometric ridge shapes (you know, those zig-zags on the armor).

Now, to the point! I have some ideas for vehicles that I'm having trouble getting off the ground. They're based on these designs from artist Keith Thompson:

Now, these are obviously a very different aesthetic, but I'm just looking to replicate the overall shapes. The cool, long hover skiff with the gunner canopy thing, the long battleship with the pods... The last one, the copter/fighter I might have a lead on, because I just picked up two of these tonight half-price at my local shop:

I think most of what I need to do is find a better wingspan for it, but any suggestions help.

Now, I'm assuming I might find some of what I'm looking for in anime model kits for space anime, but I'm really not all that familiar with those. I've only looked into Space Battleship Yamato, all of which are kinda pricey for being so far from what I want. What do you guys think? I think I'd especially love to figure out a way to pull off that skiff. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Yeah, that's more or less what I was thinking. The biggest thing will really just be finding good wings for it, but I'm really stumped on the other two designs. I'd really love to do that skiff-type craft especially... the problem is it looks nothing like any other skiff designs (like the dark eldar one, or even the ones from star wars)...

Hey, that's not bad! Thanks!
