Just wanted to lament the death of the spring on my trusty 1998 gw clippers you served well and met your final end on easy fit primaris aggressors not a glorious end but one no less
I had a similar set, and actually continued to use them long after the spring snapped...just not as quick or easy obviously. I'm currently sitting on some Xurons and I think I have an un-named set which are not quite as good.
Lament for clippers. lol i actually laughed, but only because i feel you dude, i get sentimentally attached to brushes and other tools so when they do reach the end of their life a part of you goes with them.

Just the spring that's broken? The spring on my hardware store clippers broke years before I retired it You just hold it in a way that you keep your little finger between the handles to push them apart again after making a cut, piece of cake. When I finally replaced them it felt odd to use a pair of clippers that actually had a working spring
Of course if they're that old and you used them frequently they're probably blunt and need to be replaced anyway. That's what finally got me to retire my old set.
Mine also died like this a few months back - the newer GW clippers I find have a fatter clipping head and not as sharp a nose; that said eby has LOADS of these yellow handled types on sale.
And yes clippers can still be used in this state - just no where near as easy nor fast

I challenge anyone to a clip off using unsprung clippers vs sprung clippers. You just have to hold them in the right way and they're no slower.
Losing a spring wouldn't make me discard a good pair of clippers. A good pair of clippers going blunt and ceasing to be good would make me discard them though.

Forgot to mention the worse part of the death was the spring snapped in such a way that it buried its self into my finger! was intending to use the aggressors as obiltertors so the emperor was prolly involved
My Taiyama clippers died recently so I picked up the new GW ones. They are incredibly over-engineered but work nicely.
