I paint stripped some undercoated black bloodcrushers and next to my unpainted models the plastic is quite a darker shade of grey. Is this because the plastic used may have been from a different edition of 40k? Did the black undercoat make the plastic darker? Curious to know because I'm going to be selling them before the daemons codex comes out. Did models ever come out in different shades of grey plastic that you know of?

Cheers

There have been a wide variety of shades in GWs plastic and stripping black will often leave a darker shade. So yes to all your questions.

The Gray color is added and, over the years, the shade has changed.

GW and their "grey" plastic has changed over the years - at least 4 different shades of grey, and that's not even counting the beige, green and blue that they also used.

Also, some primers WILL also stain the plastic even after stripping, which will also lead to a colour change.
