When a model is added to a unit of poxwalkers, due to them killing something or through the stratagem, are there any limits about where I can place them?

In a recent game I had a huge mob of poxwalkers who were strung out in a long blob. One end of the blob was in combat with an enemy unit and causing casualties. By the rules it seemed as if I could place my new poxwalkers anywhere as long as unit coherency rules were respected. So the blob could group longer and longer and eventually reach out to pin another model down in close combat.

Is that correct?

I'm sure that I read somewhere that there was a rule that the new poxwalker must be placed within some certain distance of the model that died to generate it. But I can't find that ruling, and I'm not sure if it's a house rule or not...

Main rulebook faq

Q: Some rules allow me to add models to a unit during the
battle (e.g. the Poxwalker’s Curse of the Walking Pox ability).
Where are those models set up?
A: Unless otherwise stated, these new models are placed
anywhere that is more than 1" from any enemy model
and still within unit coherency of a model in its own unit
that was itself on the battlefield at the start of the phase
in which the new model was created. Note that if you
cannot set up a new model on the battlefield because
there is no room, it is simply not set up.

To summarize, you can go no further than 2 inches from any existing pox walker at the start of the phase.
