So the new daemons codex states that a daemon detatchment is battleforged if all the models follow the same god. So you can bring anything from the chaos space marine codex into daemon detatchments and they still keep their daemonic loci. Obviously they lose their legion benefit. So if you chucked in some alpha legion khorne models for example they wouldn't get the -1 to hit at 12 inches bonus but they would get the khorne loci reroll charges if they were a character such as a chaos lord. Furthermore a daemon prince from the CSM codex could take warlord traits and relics from either codex. So he could take the black legion 5+ DTTFE warlord trait and the killer axe of khorne from the daemons codex. Because of the dark herticus keyword he could also have presience cast on him. He could also the daemon stratagem to start in deepstrike and come out getting hitting on 2s with 4+s giving him an extra attack. Let me know if you don't agree with any of this, cheers

You're not reading the codex properly. Read the rules again for what counts as a Chaos Daemons Detachment, you've missed a critical line. Also keep in mind that Faction Keywords are different to normal Keywords, and that you need the Faction Keyword DAEMON, not just the Keyword DAEMON. But as for Loci affecting other units not in a Daemons detachment, that's fine, and we've had three threads on that topic already.

Also check the rulebook definition of battleforged, it's a totally different thing to what you are talking about.

Yeah you're right didn't read the black writing above in bold. Funny thing is the chaos space marines codex has the daemon faction keyword for obliterators but not mutilators, no doubt a mistake. The only other model is the Lord of skulls which has both the daemon and chaos faction keywords.
Just want to confirm that the stratagems in the daemons codex such us putting them in deepstrike applies to anything with the daemon keyword in it, including mortarion and the lord of skulls and csm units like possessed? Cheers

That is correct. When used, the stratagems only need a keyword, of any kind. To unlock them the detachment has to be a CHAOS DAEMONS one (i.e. all have faction keywords CHAOS and DAEMON).

Since Lord of Skulls was called out in this, IRC the LoS has Daemon Engine for a keyword and not Daemon and Engine separated by a comma, Does this matter once the game starts cause I want to use the LoS, but only want to play demons otherwise.

It has both the Faction Keyword DAEMON and the keyword DAEMON ENGINE

Look at the Faction Keywords.

The way Daemon Loci work it seem different than Legion Trait since, it's an aura for Chaos Daemon Character and benefit other regular friendly Daemon unit.
Ex: So if I have Herald, a Khorne Character with Loci of Rage, does that Loci also affect Defiler, Possessed, Heldrake, Soul Grinder, since they share Khorne Daemon keyword (assume I pick Khorne as Mark of Chaos) because I read in the FAQ where it says Herald and Greater Daemon aura also affect Possessed since they share Daemon keyword.
3) What about Chaos Spawn, the keyword seem to changed from Chaos Space Marine codex (Chaos, Mark of Chaos, Heretic Astades) now the new one in Daemon codex is (Chaos, Allegiance)
Which one would it be?

1) Read their keywords and find out. Remember Faction Keywords are different to normal Keywords. 2) Correct. 3) They are distinct units with no relation to each other, much like how the Rhino is in various Codexes.

1) I found out why it's not, the text says,
"so long as every unit in that Detachment owes its allegiance to the same Chaos God. The Daemonic Locus gained depends upon their allegiance, as shown in the table opposite."
Unfortunately Possessed, Defiler, Heldrake do not have faction keyword "Allegiance" but....Soul Grinder has it.
3) So does that mean I can have the Chaos Spawn pick "which type" it will be thus can fit the either Daemon detachment or CSM detachment?

Bacon you're reading the wrong requirements. Read the bold black writing above and it will tell you a model needs to have both the daemon and chaos FACTION keyword to be in a daemon detatchment. Then they need to all be the same god

I told him to read the keywords to find out, I didn't say yes or no.

Correct, the same way you pick which book you want your Rhinos to come from.

New Errata from GW. Page 142 – Obliterators Remove ‘Daemon’ from the Faction keywords line Add ‘Daemon’ to the keywords line Page 149 – Khorne Lord of Skulls Remove ‘Daemon’ from the Faction keywords line Add ‘Daemon’ to the keywords line Two similar ones for the DG codex. Glad to see they recognised the error.
