I just wondered what the rules are for charging a falcon?

I had a falcon going full speed down the board and was charged by some genestealers. Are there any restrictions or deductions for this?

I couldn't seem to get a straight answer for this in the rule book.

Under normal circumstances you can charge units with the fly keyword without issue. THe falcon is a hover tank and not an aerospace fighter, after all.

Now, actual aerospace fighters have the Airborne rule, which is probably what you are thinking of. Airborne specified that the vehicle can only be charged by other flying units. That's why a genestealer can't charge a hemlock fighter.

The rules are permissive. They allow you to assault the Falcon and the Falcon has no rule saying otherwise.

Thank you. We played with a -1 to WS to hit as we weren't sure. I found it hilarious to picture genestealers hanging off a going falcon tank.

So it can be changed just like anything else. Even at full speed?

Are there any penalties for shooting it either?

There are no penalties to hit moving vehicles. That's edition lag.

Yes, it's no different to any other vehicle.

No penalties by default. If they buy Vectored Engines then there is a penalty if the Falcon advances.

A lot of this comes down to remembering there is a difference between fly, and flyer.

To many unpainted models to count.

I feel for you.
This is more 8th edition unrealism idiocy,
like shooting flyers with flamers and so on.
Pure CCG garbage.
I would house-rule it, imho -
keep the -1 to hit penalties for fast vehicles at the very least.

And neither is responsible for the -1 toHit

But the ability to assault is different between Fly and Flyer which is what he's addressing.

A Falcon tends to skim, not fly fly. A Genestealer can jump and rip bits off the hull. It's not the most ludicrous abstraction in 40K!

How? It's still the Airborne rule doing all the work. Flyer doesn't do anything in that regard. Airborne restricts charging to units that have Fly, which includes all Flyers. Not all Flyers have the Airborne rule, and MANY flyers have the option to not use it (by hovering)
