Subject: best combination for Mordian / Valhallan / Tallarn

Hello there, so I m asking for tactics people use with these regiments. I have steel legions and cadian armies, but I m expanding my collection.
So, I m thinking for Mordian mostly vehicles (Valkyrie and russes), any other advise on these?
As for valhallan, basic conscripts with stratagem and some support units (flamer and missile) to shoot into combat, I think its nasty.
Tallarn seems most usable, with stratagem, to deploy some mortar and missile squads behind enemy lines.
But what combination do you guys have?

I use allied Tallarn to complement my fast moving Sisters. I like their Ambush stratagem paired with the Dagger of Tusakh to put 5 units behind the enemy lines or on their flanks.
There are countless ways to implement a sound flanking strategy. I take a Commander, 2 plasma Commando squads (8 plasma guns), an SWS with mix plasma / melta, and a Plasma Tank Commander as a group (though not always). The Commander can give the 2 Commando squads Orders (and can also use the Inspired Tactics stratagem to give the SWS Orders). The Tank Commander can use his Tank Order to move an extra 6” after shooting (to get behind cover or further from charge range).
My Commander is also my Warlord, so I nearly always give him the Old Grudges trait, giving all units within 6” of him reroll wounds on a preferred unit. For me this trait has been more of a psychological ploy as it can cause your opponent to deploy differently or cause them to move in a direction that you can plan for.
The Ambush stratagem doesn’t force a player to bring on his forces within a certain distance to each other, so sometimes I’ll bring my Tank Commander far enough away to keep from being charged by the opponent while also remaining within the plasma range of 36” to hit their forces.

Thanks for response, yeah that seems pretty nasty, but isnt that a bit of a waste since storm troopers can already deep strike? How about deploying 3 devil dogs, with heavy flamer and melta cannon, at flank?

Tallarn are great with infantry on foot, and it also makes Chimeras with twin heavy bolters somewhat viable.

I don't have any Mordians - but I was thinking about them recently in a similar context and came up with this...
30 conscripts, an officer, at least 1 psyker (3 recomended) and at least 1 sabre defence searchlight (2+ recomended).
To keep the conscripts in place, use psykana discipline powers (mental fortitude to auto pass morale, if you brought more than one psyker along also try nightshroud/psychic barrier), next up try and order FRFSRF (be prepared to command point reroll this), light up targets with your searchlights and pop the volley fire stratagem (it's advisable to have more than one searchlight as you will likely overkill just the one target).
If you pull this off, your cons will be hitting on 4+, and activating the volley fire ability on 5+... So under perfect conditions that would be 120 (30*4) "normal" shots with a 1/3 chance of getting to FRFSRF the lasgun again per shot, so your 120 shots becomes 280 shots (120*4/3 plus the original 120), hitting on 4+ to give 140 hits on target (which is why you should split fire).
To make all this even sillier, all of the infantry elements of this could ride in a stormlord and hop out whenever something gets in rank fire range, and the stormlord with extra sponsons plus a second bodyguard tank (hellhound?) would be close to unchargeable with the Mordian overwatch buff.

I don’t think it’s a waste, consider that to get the same equivalent firepower you’d need 2 Scion command squads full of plasma plus 2 Tempestor Primes to unlock that much concentrated firepower, so you’re looking at 276 points vs 182 for what I paid for the Guard. You could obviously get a full 10 man Scion squad with 4 plasma guns instead of the Tempestor Prime but you’d still pay more than getting a 2nd Prime. And we haven’t factored in the replacement cost for the SWS with mix melta/ plasma. Plus the Prime can’t even shoot.
Everyone plays differently - I wanted to have a “Tallarn bomb” that I could deploy to take out whatever I needed out of the game.
In my force that I mentioned earlier I also run 2 Artemia Hellhounds which could replace the Tank Commander for outflanking duty if I chose to, so bringing those on doesn’t mean I couldn’t also bring on flanking Guard; remember you can bring vehicles on as a unit so you could bring 3 Hellhounds or 3 Russes all as one unit, but you can only outflank one unit with the Vehicle keyword.

Ok, thanks for all reply. I didnt meant that tallarn storm troopers are garbage, I m just planning to use storm troopers as a stand-alone force with their own deep strike.
As for the mordian, thats propably best combination so far, I ll have to think about it, and do some math. One trick for Mordian is plasma vets deploying from Valkyrie and trying to assassinate key characters.
