Been looking for well over a year now, GW is never in stock and eBay is asking crazy prices I'm not willing to pay for finecast. Are they being remade? What's going on with them. Actually now that I looked 60% of eldar is oos on the GW site.

They are in-stock on the UK website for GW and they are listed there as direct order only finecast. So that means the only way to get metal versions of them is to scour ebay and hope for second hand models and then paintstrip them (or be really lucky and find some already stripped). You might also find the odd packet unopened but they tend to sell quite high for metal models

The stock issue is likely just a result of GW's current high sales combined with production issues (government work means one of their factories is underpowered reducing their output at present).

They are on Mail Order.
A friend of my ordered two boxes, recently, and it worked.

If you're not willing to get the finecast models, or pay for the OOP metal ones, you're only left with conversions.
A pretty good conversion is to put wraithguard guns on AoS Executioners (I think I've seen the conversion here on dakka, but can't remember where). Assuming you have wraithguard guns laying around (or can get them for cheap through bits vendors), it's also cost-effective.
Edit: found it, it's from JeffyP's awesome blog: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/540/631794.page#9615936

All I can say is good luck...I picked up some metals on eBay a year or so ago, and lucky I was considering they've all but become gold. (and will likely continue to be so until they get nerfed a bit).

Do it. I've seen five models going for $50-60. Probably more if they're painted.

At this point, conversion is the best option. You can usually find the pieces you need easer on eBay than the actual models, and even if you found the actual models, why would you spend money on finecast? Like ever? And the metal versions may as well be made of gold with how expensive they are

Fresus shared a nice link about for a good alternative conversion. You can use your imagination and come up with so many different ways to do it. AoS Executioners are a nice choice, but you can just as easily use Guardians or DE Kabalites as the base model. I think the best gun option is DE Disintegrator cannons, but it's probably easier to find WG guns on eBay.

Good luck!

EDIT: come to think of it, since Reapers are such a hot item right now, I really should get to converting and selling.

For now you can probably go in to any supermarket and head to the dairy section. You'll find them under "cheese".

Nope, you were right the first time. Those 10 Reapers already over $120. Which makes no sense to me. You can buy 2 brand new boxes of the current models for around $90 and that would also get you 10 Reapers.

The only reason I can fathom why this item is so high right now is because GW just isn't keeping Reapers in stock fast enough.

Metal DJs on ebay?

Anyways, I guess I suggest that having a few extra DJ metal models waiting for paint.
Haven't searched for them, but I figure that there may be more than a few out there looking for homes.

EDIT:
I just searched, found a few that don't need stripping like the following:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Warhammer-40k-Eldar-Aeldari-Rogue-Trader-Harlequin-Death-Jester-Metal/222799074059
for abut 8USD.
From the same seller, so imagine shipping at 10 then total for a unit of three would be about 34USD.
Not cheap, but kewl...

People, don't buy Dark Reapers. You will get a month's play out of them - 6 weeks tops - and then they will slip back into semi obscurity.

There's zero chance they will not be nerfed now they are the clear bosses of matched play.

Particularlyl as they are not plastic models in current mass production.

Caveat emptor.

"clear bosses of matched play"

One event where they seem to be dominant =/= sky falling.

People need to give time for the metas to shake down. We've got three new xenos codices coming soon.

Wait a month or 2, they will be nerf and everyone that has 20+ will sell them off

They'll probably get whacked in March anyway. Don't stress about buying a ton of them.

I didn't say that. If it was just LVO, we wouln't have already known that "reaper spam" was going to be there, and it was - in force.

Please note I am not calling for them to be nerfed or anything. I am saying I expect that they will be in March when they have announced the balance changes will take place, just as other "clearly dominant choices" have been in the past.

If you're up for converting, I'd recommend getting a box of these guys and some dark eldar heavy weapon arms:

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-DK/Dark-Elves-Har-Ganeth-Executioners

The Scourge's weapons look like they could be made into Reaper launchers with a few strategic clipping. Still kinda expensive but probably still less than what you'd pay for 5 failcast reapers.

I agree with the people here, but mainly because I dislike spam. I like Dark Reapers. They're strong, but I've liked them since second edition. I don't think anyone should have a problem facing a squad or two of them. An army list consisting of them? That's just spam and no matter what type, it's never fun.

Unfortunately 8th edition detachment rules are stupid, and thus encourage spamming.

and other such lies.

Detachments don't really have anything to do with unit choice though, outside of basic troop units to meet requirements. Nothing about a heavy detachment (1 HQ, 3 Heavy Support) means you have to run three identical HS units.

However, I'm a filthy casual and simply won't do something I find cheesy, regardless of the benefit. Hence, not a tournament player so I don't really have a dog in the fight. At the end of the day unit/army construction is still up to the player. Warhammer and wargaming in general is waaaay too time-intensive for me to ever bother spamming a unit because of some silly percentage measurement.

Or use EML, they look 85% the same. Reaper Launchrs just has an odd break before the front nose, where EML front nose its a little bigger (on the guns)

Dark Reapers are the only aspects I don’t have for my “guest” Eldar army (I don’t think the models existed back when I got the other metal aspects, yet somehow I have a metal Maugan Ra).

Does anyone know of any non-GW alterative models to represent them? I’d like to avoid metal and especially finecast if I can avoid it.

Thanks for all the responses guys! Also, this is for my wife's army, she only wants one squad, we stay away from the meta and play what we want over some wine and beer, imo the best way to play 40k!
