Hi im trying to figure out how to get around this problem, I put 2 coats of matte varnish (thats been sitting around a while) and all the metalics turned out super weird after applying it.
this is before the varnish
this is after the varnish
Is the varnish that i used the problem, is it the silver i used to highlight the metal and how do i fix it.
Also, could someone provide me with constructive feedback/ tips on what to work on to bring this model to low level tabletop?
Thanks,

This might just be my poor eye sight but I can't see the 'super weird' effect the varnish has had on the metallics. Could you be more specific?

it just made the metalics non metalic shiny, esp the barrel now looks like i used offwhite instead of very light silver metalic and makes the contrast of the highlight a lot stronger (uglier looking).

Matt varnish does that.
it literally kills the shine off of anything.
try satin varnish next time. you still get the metallic but it does reduce the shine.

Just hit them with a light drybrush of the metallic paint after you varnish to bring back the luster, just a little bit will bring back enough of the shine that they look like metallics again

Matte varnish is hell spawn straight from the Warp. It kills all shine and highlights. I know this from bitter experience. Avoid!

As others have said. A satin is better then a matte or flat. Satin will keep some shine.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.
