Hi, I'm new to 40k and Games Workshop. My previous wargame was Warmachine and proxy models were not allowed. Is proxying allowed in 40k? If so, where can I find that ruling?

Also, if the answer to my thread title question is Yes, that I can use a Glotkin in my 40k army than can you help me brainstorm some possible models that it could serve as a reasonable proxy for? I'm guessing it has a similiar base size as The Great Unclean one but I love the way that model looks too.

Maybe Rotigus? I don't know. I just know I love the Glotkin model. Thanks!

It doesn't have real rules.
I would say it is now about right for a GUO/Rotigus/Skabiethrax, if a little bit too big.
I've seen a lot of people convert it into a renegade knight.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Proxying isn't a "rule" it depends on your gaming group, or a tournament organiser.

BUT generally if it looks cool and is the right size it's fine.

Proxies are not covered by the rules explicitly, it's always an agreement between players.

In a one off match, make sure to mention it beforehand. Rule of Cool and all that.

In a tournament, it's up to the TO's capricious whims.
