So somehow I've completely missed the fact that Primaris Reivers only have one shoulderpad (I guess I was too focused on the fact that they all wear power-broshorts and crocs).

Bought a 5-man squad the other day for completionism's sake, got to the arms stage and... the whole "one shoulderpad" deal makes me want to chuck the whole squad into the bin. I guess an arm swap is in order perhaps? I can probably get some extra shoulderpads on eBay. Has anyone done this and ended up with something that looks better than GW's design?

I swear, as much as I like the Primaris range, the Reivers stand out as an example of geniune badness...

EDIT: Reivers not Reavers... also STUPID... a reiver is a river pirate...

I bought a squad of snap fit Reivers to convert. Ran out of steam before I got far:

I cut down the small shoulder pad to fit a Deathwatch one on (since I have no better place to put Primaris than my Deathwatch).

As you can see I'm not thrilled by the power shorts so I gave hydraulics a try to account for their deep strike option. More for fun and seeing how it would look than anything else, really.

And at that point I put so much armor on that I thought rounding it off with the little heraldic shield couldn't hurt. Not that armor overload matters since they still wear fully enclosed power armor with a 3+ save just like everyone else.

Not a bad idea at all. How much did you have to trim the padless shoulder? And did you trim from the top or from the bottom?

I trimmed from the bottom to the top to have a neat semi-circle at the bottom as that's what you're going to see once the shoulder pad is on.

Other than that it was really just three to five sloppy cuts to take away around 1-2mm all told (less at the bottom, more at the top - the top doesn't matter much as its concealed by the shoulder pad). Quickly done, not much need for cleanup.

Reiver pads aren't too expensive on eBay. I'd say it would be pretty easy to grab a bunch and pop them on the existing arm. At least that way you get the same shaped pad on both, rather than a mismatch between old and new.

Errmm - 'Reiver' is the original spelling - referring to the Border Reivers of England/Scotland. Comes from the Northumbrian dialect.
